Hey guys, here is a step by step diagram I put together for you if you would like to decipher the VIN Number on your Mustang. This is pretty cool and will help you find out exactly what your car came with from the factory. If you guys would like to try it for yourself here is how you can do it. Just follow pages 1 through 14 and you might need to zoom in a little on your screen the print is pretty small. If you have any questions or need any help just let me know!***
The Vehicle Certification Label (V.C) Label) is affixed on the LH front door lock panel or door pillar. The upper half of the label contains:
- The name of manufacture.
- Month and year of manufacture.
- Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR)
-The certification statement.
The V.C. Label also contains a 17-character Vehicle identification Number. This number is used for warranty identification of the vehicle and indicates:
- Manufacturer.
- Type of restraint system.
- Line, series, body type.
- Engine.
- Model year.
- Consecutive unit number.
- The last six digits of the Vehicle Identification Number indicate the Consecutive Unit Number of each unit built at each assembly plant. The Consecutive Unit Numbers begin as follows:
001 through 599,999: Ford Division Vehicles
The remaining information on the V.C. Label consists of the following vehicle identification codes:
- Color
- Body type
- Vinyl roof.
- Molding.
- Interior trim.
- Additional codes indicate vehicles equipped with:
- Air conditioning.
- Radio
- Sun roof type (if any)
- Axle.
- Transmission.
- Spring.
- District sales office.
- Special order codes.
The following charts provide carious codes and their respective identification.
