Ive heard only bad things about the MSD dizzys too. My car was having random issues and felt gutless back in the day and I replaced the Dizzy and it made a difference. The PIP/Hall sensors are bad on these dizzys for having issues, I would try swapping a dizzy even the MSD to see if it solves the issue. My car still feels more gutless then it should be but thats another story.

I've posted on this... countless times... yet nobody ever seems to listen.

The problem is not with your engine, nothing you do will fix it, so stop trying. The issue lies in the tune of the GT ECM's. Notice that you never hear of these problems with the Cobra J4J1 ECM...

Go ahead, think about it... I'll pause now.
(for dramatic effect of course)

I have a custom tune loaded on a chip im going to put in my car this summer, we will see :)

You better hope that changed your low load timing...

I suppose I have paused long enough now...

The guy that did my chip I think used the quarter horse and knew what he was doing, Ill try to dig up the specs.

edit: I lost the specs when my hotmail accnt was hacked, but he did remember this "I've got the fueling set around 12.8:1 and timing around 28-30* at WOT across the powerband. Make sure the fuel pressure is around 39psi with the vacuum reference disconnected."

ps: that chart means nothing to me lol.

Sorry man I have never been a big gear head. Maybe you can explain it a little...

I have a very mild setup. Im hoping it will wake up the car a little and I can always mail it to him for changes.

well, if you look at the tables I posted, you will see the vertical row identifiers. Those are load %'s. The Horizontal column identifiers are RPM. The numbers in the chart are total timing values... not including any adders/subtractors.

So by looking at the T4M0 table, versus the J4J1 table, you can see certain low load areas of the table have from 11? to 21? MORE timing... This was done for emissions purposes, but also increases the likelihood of detonation.

Like I said... you cant fix the detonation with the engine... its all in the tune.

As for why your car wont make much power... SBF's are known to make best power around 34?-36? BTDC total advance. that 4-8? can make a HUGE difference in the power production of your car.

I dont have any detonation issues, I was just chiming in on this thread lol.

Anyways I still think the tune he made for me will be better then just setting my timing at 14*?

The chart makes a little more sense to me now, thanks for explaining.

So what are the odds of me getting a cobra ECM? I guess I could get my timing table changed over to the cobra profile and call it good.

maybe a twEECer?

Same amount of money in either direction... The Quarterhorse is significantly cheaper.. and a better option to boot..

I'm unfamiliar with the quarterhorse? Another tuner like the twEECer?
