So it's been a bit. Detonation was still happening then I was given a digital 6al box. Threw it in and I don't know that I've had ping since. Car idles the same (random misfire) and seems to drive smoother also when doing a stab at about 1800 in first it squealed the tires which it's never done before. Now something I thought was odd was I was showing a co worker how the catch can we made reacts to throttle (if the oil level is high enough itll hop up to the suction side). The car was cold and in open loop and quick throttle no load and it would miss and sputter it even backfired through the intake once and a few times in the exhaust. I dunno if this things got some serious internal issues or what.

i'd bet that a J4J1 flash on a chip, with only changing the injector slopes... would completely clear up your issue... Now if only I had a way to prove it

wait a second.... you said catch can and oil level rising? what is this catch can you are speaking of and how is it installed on the motor? if you are sucking oil into the intake from a catch can you will for sure be detonating.

The detonating was before the catch can. The catch can is routed in-between the pcv line. Since it's a DIY jobber it doesn't have as much capacity as an after market one so if it gets full enough it candrink a little oil. Granted all the oil I see in that lime would be in the system anyway.

are you talking about a air / water separator? thats different from a catch can. either way if you are pulling oil it will detonate. if it has been sucking oil for a long time the carbon build up will cause hot spots and can raise your compression which will cause the pinging.

So the plot thickens. On tuesday when driving from my job to go and pick up my daughter I get about 20 yards from her daycare and I notice a miss. I park shut the car down and go get my kid. So I start driving home and the car starts stuttering and missing between 1500-2000 rpm roughly under light acceleration. Runs exactly like it's running out of fuel. Take a look at my gauges and I was low on fuel so I went and got a few gallons. No change. I get home the car sits for a hour and a half and is fine. I look her over and notice my coil is cracked and is separating. So I go to work the next day no drivability issues. I pull the coil and warranty it. Fast forawrd to today. Driving after work to go get my daughter and get her loaded up and pull out of her daycare and boom the stutter is back. Same exact bs as before. I notice if I accelerate heavily whils it is happening it instantly goes away. It did this when my o2's were bad but they were both replaced towards the end of the year last year. I dunno what the deal is.

How's the fuel pressure? If you have changed the pump new doesn't always mean it's good.

Well my detonation went away when I fixed the vacuum line to the charcoal canister in the passenger fender. The line was blown out. Then I pin pointed the stutter. It's in the egr. I pull the vacuum to the egr and it stops. Replaced the egr valve and it didn't fix the problem. I'm replacing the vacuum module in the fender next.

You mean, pulling the vacuum off the egr stopped the detonation?? If when you fixed the vacuum line to the charcoal canister the denonation stopped, why are you replacing the vacuum module??

I fixed the canister and the weather cooled off for a few weeks here. Now it's back in the mid 90's and when the car gets good and hot it does the stuttering I was talking about. If I pull vacuum from the egr valve it stops. I have another thread describing things a bit more thinking it was a different issue. http://sn95forums.com/index.php?topic=65197.0
