Differences in 5.0 HO and none HO engines

Was wondering what is the diffrent in a 5.0 HO compared to a None HO engines? Also what makes a HO compared to a non HO motor. Hope that makes sense.
I'm wanting to fresh up a block but was wondering what the motor difference was and if it mattered or not block wise?

Sorry its such a noob question but we all have to start some where when we don't know. Ive always found it best just to ask people that would know.

The block shouldnt matter. The difference is in the top end.

All '85 or '86 and up 5.0 blocks (car engines) were roller cam.

86 was the first roller

85 was roller with carb, 86 was sd with flat tops, 87 maf.

You could be right, the book of various stock/aftermarket cam profiles does not give me a Non-H.O camshaft. Just gives me a 5.0 H.O., 5.0 SVT Cobra, and Thunderbird 5.0.
