Have any of you drilled and tapped a bolt hole to use as a fill hole on the differential cover to make the fluid changes easier? I don't enjoy filling the fluid from the stock fill hole. Its not that easy to get to.

The fill hole is on the front of the differential tho, its not allot of fun to get at. It would be nice to have a fill hole on the cover.

true. you can prob get one of those drain bolt kits for the automatic transmissions and install it on the diff cover. or.....

go to home depot, buy a bolt, a nut, and then get some cork make-your-own-gasket stuff and make your own.

drill the hole, weld the nut to the inside of the diff cover, and then use the bolt and the gasket on the outside. or just go to ford, buy a new oil drain plug (which has the gasket already on) then go to home depot, buy a matching nut, then just go out, drill, weld, and ur set.

The problem is with the fill holes on some of the aftermarket covers is that they are too high so you can end up overfilling the rear end if that's what you go by. You would still need to remove the original fill hole to see if it's at the proper level (starts coming out when at the proper level). I just got one of those 5.00 dollar pumps that I stick in the rear gear oil to fill up the rear. Those cheap pumps make it very convenient to do.
