Finally made it to the track yesterday. On four passes I had a best of 9 flat. This with AFR 165's TFS intake and all the other bolt-on norms and an upgraded fuel system. Didn't have a tire gauge with us, but after I got back home I had 32psi in the rear drag radials. I realize that's way too much pressure, and I was spinning well through second. My best 60' time was a 2.4?? Also when I got home I took out the spout to double check my timing, and it was at 20* Are these times to be expected with the info I've given you, and with my timing being corrected to 14*, running 10-15 psi in the dr's, what times should I expect. Also, can someone give me some times they've ran with similar setups and the 60' times. Thanks, sorry for rambling.

9.0 in the 1/8th? Your 60ft is TERRIBLE....it should be damn near a full second lower. What is you suspension setup like and have you had the car tuned? Fuel pressure? What is your FULL mod list? You should be in the 7's in the 1/8th with those heads and intake depending on the cam.

Afr 165's, TFS intake, Mild Cam, 1.6 rr's, full exhaust, 30lb injectors, 255lph pump, adj fuel pressure regulator at 42psi, underdrives, CAI with calibrated MAF. All on Eibach lowering springs and stock suspension with nitto drag radials, again with 35 psi yesterday. My best pass of 9.00 was actually ran with near 40 psi in the tires. No tune.

You desperately need a tune but even still you should be able to roll to a low 8 second pass...even without one. try like 18lbs in the drag radials. The control arm bushings are probably done for as well so thats not going to help with your traction issue.

It's not the car that is slow - it's the driver. You need some more practice and less tire pressure and you can easily knock a half-second off your 60', which will amount to a lot in a 1/4 mile race.

I didn't really think about how much it really matters (tire pressure)
i mean i knew it mattered but didn't realize how much..

I'ma take mine to the track EVENUTALLY....
prolly after the blower and gears and stuff....

Just so it will be that much more fun.

a tune is def. in the plan, but I was so dissapointed at the track. I know I need some practice. Low to mid 8's is what I was hoping for. I only ran 4 tenths quicker than my old times (w/o the heads and intake) but my trap speeds were up nearly 10mph, from 72 to 81mph, is that a reasonable trap speed? Give me some of your all's 60' times as well.

If you have a stock automatic, stock stall and stock gears on Nitto Drags
After you bake it them for a few seconds and line up, should i "pre-load" or just hold the brake and the second it turns 1 before green punch it *cuz it takes 1 sec to get from that yellow to the green*
pre-load or no?
i haven't EVER been to the track so i'm trying to get as many tips and techniques as possible....

I've cut a few high 1.90's on 18" wheels with a 295 street...NOT drag radial.

1.63's on M/T Radials with only a few passes to tune on a moderate track prep.

I've cut a 1.90 on 275/35/18 Kumho street tires in a car with decent power launching just off idle. Most of the time I was pretty consistent at 2.00 short times.

I've cut a 2.001 on 275/40/17 Nitto DRs in a car without much power. That could easily be reduced by a tenth or more with practice.

Just practice, practice, practice. Don't be disappointed man - it's harder than most folks think.

Paul.

even if I can cut a 1.90, I'm still scared of what my ET's are gonna be, I was shooting for 8.40-8.50. Is that achievable what what info I've given you?

Take it to Intune get it tuned and then put the ET Streets on and get it to the track and practice. Did you go to Brainard?

best 60 ive got was 2.09 on 245s by holding the brake at the line and launching.

Im auto with 3.73s and no balls down low so I guess thats respectable.

even with 3:73s? no balls down low?

I just had my Auto seriously built up by Circle D here in Houston.. everything new.. performance everything with a custom built stall... they told me 3:73s or 4:10s and I'd have my power down low..

but if it still has no torque down low.. thats discouraging..

no, I was at 411. Again, if I I do drop into the 1.80-1.90 range what ET's should I be looking at with my mods?

If you cut 6/10ths off of your current 2.6 second 60ft that will make a 2.0. GENERALLY SPEAKING, 1/10th off of your short time can equate to as much as 2/10th's off of your overall time.

PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE.

Don't worry about reaction times at first. worry about getting the launch down. Play with varying rpms and tire pressures. Change one thing at a time in between runs and keep a log of your times and what changes you made. I do this everytime I go to the track. You've got stock control arms though...those factory bushings are probably soft as hell and are giving zero consistency in your launches. Again...practice

I had a mis-key on my original post, I actually hit a 2.10 on my best 60' time, but ran a 9.12 missing a shift. I just don't see my car running in the mid 8's given that track outing and that makes me sick after the effort and money I've put into it. We'll just have to try it again...thanks guys
