Dome light doesn't light up when doors are locked?

The dome light along with the parking lights, license plate lights, dash lights all light up when I un-lock the car but not when I lock the car? Use to be work but recently stopped.

are you saying they do this when you disarm the alarm/keyless or just when you push the button? Start simple, check fuses.....

Yes but it is a aftermarket one that the previous owner put in.

if it lights up on the unlock but on on the lock then there is really only two options. It is a really cheap unit that they rigged the unlock output to flash the lights and you would need to rig it to do the lock, or that it is programed to only do it on the unlock. Not knowing the brand of the unit, the place or person that installed it and how they did it makes it impossible for us to tell you what to check. If you know the brand of the unit, it would be a start.

ya know I actually just read this again and realized that the thing is working perfectly. The dome light comes on with teh disarm so that you can see inside the car to make sure it is empty or the way you left it, its called domelight survailance and some places charge extra for it. If the domelight came on with the arm, your battery could die before you get to disam it.....

once in a while my parking lights barely flash when i lock or unlock it. its the factory alarm system. idk why it doesnt work but i wish it did.
