Any recommendations for door sill protection? I have the stock runner which is kinda “blah”, but something better MUST exist. Would also consider an additional strip for the lower sill. I poked around the interweb briefly and came across a couple of candidates. One is basically a roll of cut to fit carbon fiber tape. The other is a pre-fabbed set of 4. Just curious if anyone has gone there, the quality, durability, etc. Definitely don’t want something “boy racer, cheeseball” looking cheap-ass stuff. So, before I decide to pull the trigger or not, thought I’d post a thread here and get some opinions, suggestions and feedback. Thanks everyone…Cheers!

These were made out of some of the thickest vinyl I have ever seen, 3m brand. As for the CF look I think it would look good on a black car.

As it turns out, I’m going to pass on both. The lengths (19” and 10”) are shorter than what I would want. And the widths (1 1/2” ea) would fit the lowest step of the sill but not so great on the middle step and I wouldn’t trust the look or durability if I had to either fold either edge the 1/4” overlap.

So Plan B is to ask my body/paint guy if he can respray the sills along with the passenger side mirror which has a considerable sized chip in it!

damn for that price I need to fire up my laser cutter and start making some.
I think the price is fair for an individual production. It is not like they make one design 1000 pcs. They start production for each buyers specification.

It is like for everything other customized thing

no it is not an unfair price after you consider the time it takes to design it for every person. Some will be easier than others but small one-off custom stuff is what I was doing for a while with the laser. Been too busy with one health issue after another for the past couple years and not been able to take the time.

They look nice, appear to be longer than stock so they cover more area (correct me if I’m wrong please) and hopefully are good quality, but the price gives hesitation. It’s not outlandish, but on the other hand, it’s not a knee-jerk point of purchase snap decision type thing either, IMO.

Maybe put it on a Xmas or birthday Wish List so your significant other can see ;-)

I could make them for less(and fun), maybe even add some lighting, I am just not exactly sure when. We packed mom up at 130am this morning to ship her back to the hospital for the 3rd time in a week because of covid. On top of that my brother just moved back into town(his stuff literally arrives today)

Buddy of mine contracted pneumonia at his work. Hope your mom doesn’t have that cuz it’s a bear. Will keep high hopes and good wishes for your mom

we are looking at a short term rehab facility now. Between dad and I we make sure there is always someone here to help and do anything anytime she pushes the wireless doorbell button I got for her but she just needs more/better help than we can give. Thanks for the kind thoughts and I am serious that I enjoy doing custom stuff like that. I currently have a piece of aluminum mounted down to my cnc for a custom job for a friend that I have been trying to get to for a week now....

Same length as stock. You have to remove the stock ones and put the custom sills on. Check the image on my previous reply, the chrome part is the sill. They go from edge to edge
