I'm looking into getting drag radials on my 17x8 in rim wats the best size for it..keep in mind I still have my quad shocks but they are flipped so there is a little bit more room..or what's the best rim and DR combo?

I had a 275/40 BFG dr on my 99 gt wheels. Switched over to a 255/60 ET Street Radial on a set of 16" Cobra R's, worked much better

Bigger the wheel, smaller the sidewall generally. Smaller sidewall, less shock it can take to get you out of the whole quickly.
Find you some cheapie 15 or 16" wheels that are 7-8" wide and keep a good set of MT's on 'em.

I had 275/40-17 Nitto 555Rs on my 17x8s also, they worked pretty well. technically though 275 is too wide for an 8" wheel.

That's correct, my Centerlines are 5.5" BS and with 275/60/15 tires they fit perfectly, didn't even need to touh the quads

i have 245's on my pair of 99 cobra wheels for the track. hook great but def cant take much of a launch bc it just shocks the suspension and take a big hop when you let the clutch. i think i mayeb just need to take a launch more off idle with the smaller sidewalls
