Don't do it.

Don't do it for all of the reasons that have been listed so far. Most notably...

THERE IS NO F'ING APPRECIABLE BENEFIT TO DOING SO.

...or just sell the headers and buy a set that are actually intended for your car. Or have the bung welded.

IIWY, i would take your headers to an exhaust shop, they will be able to weld a bung in place for 20-25 bucks, so that way if you decide to go with or without an EGR you will have headers capable of that. If you decide not to you can use the penny trick or just buy the cap for it.

wow lots of EGR hate in this thread. How much loss of fuel mileage are we talking here? and how much hotter will said combustion chamber be?

Kinda skipped threw. But you can just get the resistors from radio shack and save the money on the "eliminator" connector.

And when you cause code 332 it eliminates the EGR function.

If you have a daily driven car and it is NOT a race car, I still don't understand the NEED to remove your EGR/Smog?

Having them is not hurting anything and removing them doesn't show any serious gain...

Can someone explain it to me?

I'll agree that if everything is working properly that there is no benefit of removing it Unless your cleaning up the engine bay. And even then its minimal.

Now if the EGR system isn't working, And you don't have smog testing. Its probalby cheaper just to remove it. You Shouldn't have any problems.

Not saying you guys that had problems did something wrong. Just wondering what you did differently than other people.

Absolutely.

If the shit doesn't work and you have no smog...then so be it. My argument is people that have perfectly good running cars will go in and rip it out. Makes absolutely no sense to me.

well i had bought a set of long tubes that had the hole welded shut so I just ditched it when i put them in. That my story. I had taken out the smog at the same time cuz i didnt want to rig up the smog tube.

You ended up with headers that you spent good money on vs. smog and you have no inspection correct??

Removing the smog does a LOT for the engine bay, I still have my EGR but removing it would only give minimal visual gain.
