Just because vehicles are older then 95 doesn't mean there bad. I wouldn't even bother doing a smog pump removal..... Your going to gain a few HP that's about it.

Don't bother. The air pump hardly takes any power at all - meaning negligible.

no the alternator is old and junk. I needed a new belt and was throwing on longtubes, so I tossed the smog pump since I didn't need it Just one less thing under the hood. It's mainly worth it for just the extra room

For one thing, 95 5.0 mustang will not throw a code due to cats. For two, it wont through a code for removing the smog pump. And lastly, all your doing is by passing the pump by installing a smaller belt. Easily done as it is said.

not sure how much it weights off hand but it's a decent amount to take off. Dead weight. There are only two o2 sensors on the car and thats to monitor the air fuel ratio. The car does not have any cat efficiency monitors on the mid pipe. I run longtubes with an off road H pipe with no problems on quite a few 5.0 cars.
