Emission questions

I was just curious about a thermostat and headers in terms of emissions. Wil la 180 degree thermostat and shorty headers with stock mid pipe pass emissions in CA? Online it says the shorties aren't legal in emissions controlled areas but I dont know why and I read the same thing somewhere for the thermostat. Thanks in advance.

I can see that maybe a 180 might not get the engine to "optimum" temperature [for testing anyway] but i cant see why shorties are a no-no, the standard headers are almost shorties anyway, as long as your egr tube is there what's the problem?
Well i'm assuming you would need the egr fitted if they are being that hard on you to start with.

that would suck we dont have to test our cars here
california is a little too liberal for guys who like V8s i fear however it wont be long before Minnesota tightens up and makes us test the cars but i am going to cry, its my car and it wants to breath damn it, if you want to drive a prius fine but dont be so smug about it and force this shit on everyone else. :blah2: i am sorry for the rant does not have much to do with this but i have sympathy for you my friend

The sympathy does feel good. CA is definitely too liberal and will be grateful when and if I move out of here. No worries about the rant, they makes you feel better. :coolsmiley:
