Has anyone installed an engine start button in their sn95? I've been wanting to do this for a while, but I don't know where to get one, or how to install. Any suggestions?

Well does anyone know which wires are the ignition and the starter wired? I think that's all I'll need...

^What he said! I got a wiring diagram for a 99-04. Would the wire colors be the same? I know, I know... you should never expect that kind of consistency from an auto maker, but one can dream.

I think it's a nice touch.

probably the start terminal off the key switch??

I've seen some where the ring around the button lights up, once the key is on. :santa_smiley:

get yourself a wiring diagram and you can essentially wire in any momentary contact pushbutton switch. Take a look at summit or speedway and you'll find about 10 of them.

I think I've basically decided on an S2000 button since they look very factory. Anything too fancy would just be over the top in my opinion. When I scrounge up 60 bucks I'll get one ordered.

ooo I love the thought of a push button.... but doesn't the key have to be in the ignition? and where would you place the button?

I want to put the button either in the dash, (custom fab it and just tap into another power source) or put it more discretely in the place for the cigarette lighter in the center console. I would make it so it couldn't be started with just the key, and make it so you have to use the button. It would make it a little harder to steal that way too if it's hidden. ;)

Key would still have to be in and turned to the "run" position in order to use the push button start.

Sorry i forgot about this one.... The S2000 Button is exactly the one I have. Advantages: Looks factory because only the "Engine Start" lettering lights up and not the whole button. Dis-advantages: Its hard to work with because it's so long. Also hard to wire because you can't buy the Pig-Tail that plugs into it from Honda. Apparently it is wired into a main harness so you would have to buy the whole harness (waste of money). So you have to cut apart the plug housing at the base of the switch and figure out which wires go where. There are four prongs but I think I only used 3 of them. Here are some pic's of where I mounted mine. I'm not really happy with the location and will probably end up changing it to a steering column pod. We'll see, I've changed the location about 5 times now!

thats nice... i was thinking of doing mine like this

Deleting the bottom cd radio thing and having an aftermarket 1 on top

have a black plate installed for the bottom and put it there on the left and then nitros switches on the same panel... kinda looks pretty cool in my mind.

Thanks how I had it before but I wanted it closer. Should of kept it there to be honest with you so you're making a great choice! :thumb:

Completely forgot about this thread. (Still want to do this though) If you ever do move it again, be sure to take a picture of the wires you tapped into for the ignition, as well as the three prongs you used. etc. :TY:
