ok, well as luck has it, when I want to buy something and tell everyone i AM getting it, it soon comes to my attention that what i said i was getting, i dont get.

i know that may be confusing what i just said so heres an example.

before I got my pride and joy black cobra, i had looked at a good amount of other cobras before. EVERY SINGLE one that my dad put thought into, i told my friends I was getting it.. after a month, nobody started to believe me. When I found my black cobra, we found it on autotrader the week before and made plans to look at it one day after school. That whole week, i didnt tell a single person and as luck has it, I actually got that cobra.

So if i tell someone im getting something, it seems for some reason I won't actually get it.

If i keep my mouth shut about it, i get what i want it seems.

Well im going halfway on this one. Im not going to say im not getting it, but im not going to say im 100% getting it either.

What im talking about here is getting my engine rebuilt. Yes rebuilt, no more problems, fresh motor, new start.... My dad and i have been talking about it for the past 2 days and tomorrow, I am making the call to www.gearheadsperformance.com . One of the hottest mustang shops to go to in DFW right now. (Sorry Paul, im done with HPP, they have screwed 3 of my friends over w/ a few $1000 dollars combined and dont care for their customers as of lately I hear.)

Tomorrow me and the pops will be talking to them about checkin out my motor and seeing what needs to be done to get it fixed and possibly rebuilt. I don't exactly know what my dad is thinking about as far as the funds go because we haven't talked about it. Im sure ill have to go get a job but im thinking he may possibly pull a loan out for me and help me along the way as I pay most of it off myself. Soo..

Im not saying im getting this done in fear that it wont actually happen (see above) and im not going to say im not getting it because it seems in my mind pretty promising.. OHHHHH i can't wait.

We also crossed the subject of maybe a termy coming into the equation. Haven't really discussed that yet though. O0 O0 O0

give me some love guys, i need opinions on what to do and what you guys think.

Re: engine... ohhhh yea

there's probably a good chance you don't need a whole rebuild, maybe just some valve seals.

why not get a loan yourself, and establish your own credit?

Re: engine... ohhhh yea

my dad is smart about that stuff.. maybe thats what he meant.

i bet he is also smart enough to pull it out in my name instead of his just in case i can't pay it lol.

he does that sort of stuff. he tells me what i need to do and how i need to do it.

Re: engine... ohhhh yea

Nice to see someone with confidence in their Father. O0

How about the two of you pulling the engine and working on it together. That will save big bucks and also be a great learning experience as well as create something that will bond you two even more?

If you do end up going with Gearheads, I think you will be very happy with them. We have known Travis for a long time, and he's very good people. Good luck with it, hope it works out good. :thumb:

Re: engine... ohhhh yea

thanks Hellion! i have heard many many good things about travis on forums and through all my buddies that go to GearHeads. My dad and i are going to call them up today after my first class. actually, thats where I am now. soo

can't wait. also, do i really need another crank? my cobra crank is perfectly fine am I right? I hope that this goes through because I realllly want to have a fresh start and no problems.

Im sure GearHeads will help me through the whole process of buying stuff that I need but what do you guys think I need as far as specs on things? I do want to SC it down the road so I know i need to maintain a certain compression but don't know exactly which pistons I need to achieve that. This is stuff that gearheads will help me with correct?

Thanks guys for the advice and help so far. Ill let you guys know what my dad says later on tonight if anything.

well, we just called GearHeads and man was Travis (who we talked to) awesome! He and only 2 other guys have been working this whole week so they are short handed (normally have 5 or 6 guys working) but he took the time to talk to me and my dad (about 20 minutes).. He was so awesome though. I told him about the forums and hes going to get on here I think. I told him about you Hellion but i dont recall what he said.

He also wanted my number and email and hes going to email me his quote on the parts and he just really cares about what we had to say. He told us whenever we were ready, to give him a call and he will fix us up. He told us he knew what he was doing with these engines and he can tune anything with any program. He was an awesome guy. I can't wait to get my car to him.

Heres what we talked about

Forged pistons, rods, stock crank, balanced and blueprinted. Bored out a bit i think, valve job, valve guides, valve seats (if needed and are guides and seats the same thing?), I will probably do some longtube headers while the motor is out, and possibly some cams, and definitely a tune.

He quoted me 3500 dollars but if my valves and everything is messed up and i need new stuff, it could get up to like 4200. However, my engine will be completely perfect and brand new. :)

my dad said we ARE going to do it, he just doesn't know when.. i was thinking a few months but it may be sooner! my dad is buying his buddies house right down the street that was built like last year, awesome house and we are selling ours. Our house as appreciated by like 40k dollars or something so thats where my engines funds will come from i think my dad said.

Things aren't final yet but my dad is going to try and sell our house this week after he hires a realtor. I can't wait!!!

what you guys think??!! :dancing6: :dancing6: :dancing6: :dancing6:

sounds nice, if your dad is going to help you out, a full rebuild will be nice. plus if you put new cams in that will give a nice jump in power as well

I betting he doesn't know me by name, I've met him about 3 or 4 times, but each time there was about a year or so in between. He's really good friends with John Urist, who I work for here at Hellion, so that's how I've met him, at races and stuff. Mention John's name and he will know him. they are good friends. I just know that Travis is a good guy, he has always helped John out whenever possible.

yeah that Travis guy was awesome. he was asking more questions than me and my dad were asking him. i mentioned that i knew a guy that worked with Hellion Turbo's but sadly i dont know your name (sorry, what is your name though?)... he said he knows some guys that work there though.

we even talked about his customers cars cause i mentioned my buddy's 06 Procharged GT and he knew exactly who and what car i was talkin about. he was sayin how my buddy is a good kid and that they had a bit more work to do on his car to get it right.. but idk the guy was talkin to me like he was my friend and that he would take care of me, even though hes never seen a dime of my money or met me in person. he was just really interested in what i had to say and questions i had for him.

the reason im freakin out so much is cause ive never talked to a single shop that has a guy like this. they are always to busy and dont care for my questions, they just want my money and to get my car in and out. this guy was just really cool.
