Browsing my local craigslist and found a set of gt40p heads and an upper and lower intake of a 98 exploder for 450. So my question is what numbers would I be looking at with that set up all gasket matched with the stock cam and with a e303. Also a cold air and exhaust as that's all I have.

270 horse or so

you can run stock headers or bbk unequal shorties and the BBK long tubes. there are others out there, but those have worked well for me with the P heads in the passed.

from someone thats ran them on a number of different cars, I will say you may end up regretting not biting the bullet and saving for a better head.

Yeah I don't have the cash currently but it was a thought. What's a good cast factory head I might find in a junk yard?

The best head you will probably find in a Junkyard is basically the GT40 or P head. Unless you stumble upon some alum heads but that is very rare. Like someone upgraded to an Alum and no one took them off.

Run a Gt40 or P head with my TFS Street and BBK longtubes I have for sale and it will produce decent #'s then when you have the money get you some alum heads.

Save it for a blower. I dont understand the appeal of Alphabet cams tho. Would a e303 be better than a TFS1?

i throw the e out cuz its a known smog legal cam. honestly if i go blown i want a nice H/C/I set up with a custom ground cam for the blower. then i could just pass it off as either a i dont have a cam or b its a smog legal one such as a e303 or tfs1. my understanding is things like cams a smog tech cant ask about. he may hear the lope but still cant ask. if you tell him tho he gets to fail you on the spot.

Tfs1 is designed for injection 5.0's where the e303 was designed around carb motors back in the day right?

nope Im talking the actual core the cams are ground on, not to mention the TFS cams were engineered a little over a decade later (we learned a few things in those 13 or so years) the E cam was produced with EFI in mind.
