im not going to do it cheap, i have a budget of about 1000 a year for upgrades so im not going to bedoing it all at once i have time im not in a big rush to have it in the 12's, i was thinking of probally tric flow heads, holly intake and then a good cam to match that combo, then do the suspension new control arms shocks struts and subfram connectors, im in the process of putting 4.10s in and then maybe after all that ill put a nitros kit on it think that should get me into the 12s?

yep, however there are a plethora of variables that neither I nor you can know about until you get it out onto the track. Don't be so focused on one number also. Consitency is key rather then being fast.

ya true, i still need to figure out how to drive it better on the track and stuff like that, but with a good driver that is a doable time?

Save up for the HCI change, cause it will be more than 1000. If you don't want to piece it together go with the trickfolw top end kit.

Driver mod is the best mod to have and its free. I only changed gears, exhaust and better tires from my first trip to the track w/ this car which at that time ran a 14.1 to the last run of the season which was a 12.8

Just wanted to say your wrong. First you have to define fast and then you need to define cheap for me. For a full weight street car your right. But if his car is just a toy then cheap and fast work very well without cutting corners.

The Poster said he wants 12's, I think that sets the bar of how fast he wants to go

that wasnt to the him it was to duh09. You can cheaply build a fast car that is reliable. but cheap so one person is cheap to another. Hell where i live there isnt such thing as cheap i saw a 17yr old driving his own gt500 that his parents bought him. And if he does the work him self he will save lots of money and learn something. Or he can piss his money away and have someone do it for him.

There are people who put near stock 5.0's in the 13's, its been documented and proved over and over. However, it's not just a cake job, it takes time, alot of tweaking, alot of skill, and alot of patience. You drive the car alot and hard at the track, you'll progress faster, and learn how to drive it as it is.

a lot of people think the key to being faster at the track is throwing more power mods at it but in reality you should drive to your potential before throwing X amount of mods at the car

basically. I know stock 5.0s that are faster then modded PI 4.6 cars. My NPI gt was faster then a friggin pair of PI gt's that couldnt bust 8's and i did it on street tires. LEARN TO DRIVE is the key.

Just to give you an idea, the last time i was at the track in my bolt on 95 gt I ran 14.1 with a 2.0 60 ft on stock 3.08 gears.

Mods: cai, DR's, shifter, x-pipe, smog delete, and weight reduction.

Since then ive added a 4" crank pulley, headers, more weight reduction, stickier DR's and about to install a 31 spline, full spool with 4.10's. With all this i should be about mid 13's with a n/a 230 rwhp 302. weight around 3100 with me in car.

If your interested in nitrous, go with 3.73 gears and a 100 shot and youll easily run mid/low 12's.
