so i took the GT to the track on Friday because i haven't raced in like 6 months. and i haven't raced the GT in almost a year. So i put on the big 'n littles and did a little weight reduction. and my time was a suprising.....

13.6@98

so i weighed the car at the track at the end of the night, with a little bit less than 1/4 of a tank it weighed right about 3000 pounds. the car had no passenger seat, no back seat, no front sway bar, no spare/jack, i put my kirkey racing seat in.

and the GT's mods are:
Mac longtubes
Mac o/r H
Flowmaster Dumps
3.73s
Ebay CAI w/ K&N filter
UDPs

and my oil should have been changed about 800 miles ago. :santa_lipsrsealed:

the last time i raced the car it ran a 14.7@97 and the only change i have made was the weiight reduction and wheels/tires, and i have become a much better driver. I need a aftermarket tach or shift light because the one on my cluster is busted, so i just have to guess when it is the right time to shift. and weight reduction can go a long way. I can't wait to see what my Cobra weighs since it has the aluminum block (80lbs less than iron), tubular suspension, no ABS, and a bunch of other weight reduction. but yeah, i as pretty excited because i now have a 13 second daily driver that is a non-pi. Might be going back tomorrow and i've been thinkin of hooking up the nitrous kit off my Cobra :santa_evil:.

Well all that weight reduction paid off a little, congrats. Getting that car down to 3k pounds is what it takes to get it down the track, as evident by your timeslip. Now just imagine if you had another 40rwhp

the first couple passes i made, i ran 13.7s, i was running against my buddie's Mach 1. my 60's were 1.7-1.8s, and his were 2.0-2.1s. so i got to see him fly-by me about half track. as i watched him go right past me, i thought "damn, with a PI swap and some cams i would have whooped him." kinda makes me want to mod the GT more, but then i remember that my Cobra is sitting in the garage waiting for a new motor.

Awesome! The MPH seems a hair low for the ET, since you had good 60' I guess the nPI was tankin' at the end?

I want to race mine but I'm afraid of breaking shit... Englishtown is 80 miles from me (closest strip) and I can't break my DD lol!

unfortunately it rained all day today, so i couldn't go out to the track. maybe another time soon i can make it out.

and yes, weight reduction makes a big difference. I'm a strong believer in having a lighter car than making a car with a buttload of power. that is one of the reasons why i sold the Vortech i had so that i could just go with nitrous on the Cobra. with the additional weight of the vortech/intercooler/etc. i would not have as good as a weight to power ratio as i would with nitrous.

and a little tip to people taing your 2V to the track. don't wind your car out to the redline, i did on a couple passes and the car just doesn't want to move. next time i go out to the track i'll put my raptor in and i'm gonna play with the rpms of my shifts to see what is best. i think 5200-5400 will have the best results instead of going to 5800.

^^Yep I've noticed that with mine, even with PI intake and exhaust (manifold-back) it's done by the time you hit 5600-5700 RPM so that's where I shift. No sense winding it higher... It's similar to the 5.0's in that respect that you're not making any power ~500 RPM in advance of redline.

4V's on the other hand... my Mark VIII pulled to 6K without breaking a sweat. It was just ridiculously undergeared (3.07 final drive).

wow nice time and weight haha

my 94 runs a 13.45@101

it weights about 3700 with 1/4 tank and me ...absolutly no weight reduction lol i race with the spare in there and all lol

and my 60's are 1.8 to 1.9 ...sooo i wonder why your mph is on the low side ...must be a monster out of the hole and tops off...as where i believe mine is the oposite since im spraying the car its also a auto so thats a negative for me our cars run like the same number i would like to line them up some time where do you live? it would be cool to see since my crowd i run with here are all 9-10 sec. cars the slowest of them all is a 12.00 car lol i need to build my crap so im not always the guy at the end

I wish I could build my car... just no money and since It's in my parent's name they wont' let me do anything to it. I just want exhaust.. but no.. :'( I'm gonna get an intake and a short throw shifter cause they won't notice those. exhaust is the only thing I've wanted for almost a year.

i'm all the way down in Florida man. the car takes off decent out the hole, the Maxspeed lowering springs are not good at all for racing. with eibach drag springs i would cut high 1.6 60's...with a small shot of nitrous(65 shot) the car would for sure run 12s. but i wouldn't put a shot much higher than that on the car without a tune.
