Man, I spent an hour shooting guns after work and didn't make it home until after dark. I'll take some pics in the morning.

So, I always assumed the not threading issue meant, well, there were no threads. It's now apparent that I was incorrect and I have a misalignment.. :deeplist: I'd looked past this issue for years while messing with other items on the car and never took the time to inspect it properly.

Yeah, it certainly looks messed up:

Shit.... Even confirmed it by removing another bolt and threading it in, but it goes in canted. I'm simply going to bore the hinge out to 1/2" and use a larger washer.

funny how that happens. I had a good friend I was living with and for almost 3 months 3-4 times a week he would come home and complain about some noise his car was making. It was funny because he would come home each night half lit and do the same routine that it only made noise at 2400 rpms. I literally watched him do this each night for the 3 months before one day he was home during the day and I was outside when he was so he asked me to take a look at it. Its not like I am an engine master by any means but I am a few steps up on him. As soon as he popped his hood and stood there holding it up with his arm I told him I saw the problem. He just looked at me as though I was the miracle worker that I could diagnose his problem, with the engine off in literally 2 seconds. I told him to use the hood prop rod and he would fix his problem because the prop rod was just laying across the engine, not latched down the way it is supposed to be. If he would have just popped the hood and put the prop rod on the hood to look he would have fixed it himself with out ever trying....

Lol I was just going to suggest pumping some methacrylate inbetween the panels, but glad it's not even a problem.
