finally installed my 1.7 cobra roller rockers, i was tired of hearing you need fox valve covers and all the blah blah crap.
everything is working great, they make a little bit more noise if you hold the throttle at about 1800-2200 rpms but other then that everything was a straight bolt on. we pulled the baffold out of the oil fill but probly didnt need to.

its a heavy car, so its doesnt feel all that much different. i mainly did it because 1 i had them sitting on my bench for almost a year. and 2 i want to get everything i can out of the stock cam that i can. its sounds better at idle now and seems to pick up better in the mid range.

its a really tight fit on the passenger cover, but the only hang up on that side was the heater pipes that travel over the lower intake. i thought i was going to have to double up the gaskets or something. but it all fit just fine. im going to have to get a oil catch for the vc-intake breather line. or fab up a new baffold for the bung on the oil fill tube.

onyx i found a cobra in a local yard and saw the only dif was the word cobra on the drivers side cover. they said they would sell them to me for $30 but then never did, jerks.

so i figured if i had to i would beat the gunk off of my covers if i had to to make them fit. didnt have to so all is well. now its raining again in oregon wtf it was 70 out today and sunny.

so everyone knows, factory cobra roller rockers 93-95 will fit under stock gt covers!
little to no mods needed!!

damn now im running out of bolt ons, hmmmmm what to do next?..

That's pretty cool, I'm guessing a lot of people made too big of a deal out of fitting 1.7 rockers under stock valve covers, unless of course non Cobra 1.7 rockers perhaps take up more space which I guess could be likely.

i know the stud mount rockers do stand a bit taller with the polly lock sticking up so that could be a problem.

i asked around forever about cobra rollers fitting and no one had a good straight simple answer. now i have the answer and its yes they do fit.

if they are stud mount i would buy new, if you have stock pedastole style then a used set of cobra rollers wouldnt be a bad thing. just make sure the pushrod seat is not beat up and that none of the tips have flat spots. dunno what else to say.

just curious as I know there are some parts that are ok to get used and some that are not. RR seem simple enough to go either way so I was curious...

Anyone got a set of RR they want to sell?

Are you experiencing any valve float? How many miles on those heads?

my motor is at 130k heads have never been off of it. i dont rap out my car to 6k so i dont think i will have any problems. i know springs are a good thing to get when doing a rocker/cam swap but it just wasnt in the budget.

so what do roller rockers improve? thanks.

the full roller takes stress off the valvetrain. less friction = more power plus these are 1.7 RR so they add .030 more lift over the 1.6 stamped junk that comes stock.

(i only call it junk now because i have upgraded)

No, your right, the stock stuff is junk... haha! sled type rockers were designed in the 50's for the first overhead engines, then just never left... they also bend if you have a 200k+ long block and put a 150 shot thru it... depending on a few other variables. they also have a TON of friction.
