Go easy on me... I'm not a film expert and very seldom do I upload videos to YouTube... which took forever BTW. ttocs, any suggestions on what resolution and frame rate is best on these for online publishing? These are very basic videos. I didn't really do anything "cool" as this was my first time using this camera and I was more-less just playing with it... I was also limited to like 5 minutes of video because the largest micro SD card that I have right now is 2GB, so I need to invest in a larger card ASAP.

Anyway, here is a "walk-around" video of my car:

And here is a quick video that I took on the way home from Reike Park in Auburn.

Here's an exhaust video, because I guess everybody needs to have at least one of these:

Welcome to the world of HD video. I have not had any bad luck with any of the video settings. I normally try to keep it at 1080 resolution but will often go down to 960 when I go back to medium screen size/zoom rather then going with the wide/fish-eye look of the 1080.

Also on the memory cards interestingly enough on the gopro fanatics forum there is a post talking about all the problems they have had with the sandisk extreme cards that gopro recommends for them. I have had 2 bad cards myself that the camera started acting up with and had to replace thankfully sandisk is good about replacing them but it is a PITA.

I did these in 1080p. Do you recommend the wide or medium screen size? I thought I recorded these in wide, but when I uploaded them to YouTube, they didn't span the whole width... They also had this "beveled" appearance that I didn't really care for too much. Also, what FPS do you recommend? I used 60 here, because it was the highest option. I don't know if that's necessarily the best, or not.

Good info to know. Thank you.

24 fps is the standard for any normal video. The 60 fps is made for clear slow-motion videos. Take a vid of your tires spinning/smoking with it and then when you slow it down there will be very little blurring and should look crystal clear really. As for the screen size or resolution it depends on what you are wanting. The width has to do with the resolution and if you want a wide shot go for the 1080 but that will give a fish-eye lense look to anything up close(remember my slider video?). It can be cool or it can be annoying just depends on what you are doing with it and what you want. Every time you use it you will learn one more thing that you do not want too do next time, at least one anyway.

So what mounts are you planning on getting or making? If you like to do walk-around type look on ebay for a small stabilization rig like the lensey I have I think I got for $60.

Good to know. I'll take the next ones at 24 fps unless I plan to do slow-mo.

I'll play around with the settings and see what works the best. Thanks for the information.

I'm not really sure yet. The world of video is still new to me and I'm pretty unfamiliar with everything. Right now, I have the mounts that came with the camera, which aren't anything special. I got a suction mount that I used on the "ride along test" and it worked out nicely. I'd like to get something to use when I'm just holding the camera in my hands... I'm assuming that's what you were referring to. ^

I figured you'd say something like that, you bastard.

Thanks MC.

Just for a simple handle you can either buy a $30-50 handle made for it, or modify a paint-roller handle to fit. The nice thing about the paint roller handle is they are often made to go on the end of a stick/pole if you need to extend your reach. The steady-cam rig will take all the small shaking out of it.

I got one off of ebay for not too much. The LCD and the charger/extra batteries is good to get as well. They don't make a wall charger that only does the batteries but they are available in other brands that work. If your using the wifi and recording batteries can go quick. Using the gopro app yet?

I'm going to grab a few extra batteries. I saw just from what little bit I was messing with it yesterday, they don't lost very long.

Using the gopro app yet?

I downloaded it yesterday. I couldn't get it to connect with the camera and I started to get pissed because I was burning too much daylight messing around. I figured I'd try it another time.

Of course you need to go into your wifi settings and connect your phone to the camera, if you changed your password in the update menu you will need it there. After that open the app with the camera on and it should connect. If the preview option doesn't come up right away try turning the camera off and then back on to see if it initiates. If there is still no preview go into the settings area on the app and touch the "PREVIEW" window and make sure it checks it off to activate that option(you can turn it off to save battery power as it REALLY sucks it up). After that it should be active, let me know if it isn't.

Their customer support is freakin amazing. I had an issue a while back and put in an email to the "CONTACT US" section in the tech support area. I was amazed that 2 mins later my phone rang from a Colorado number and it was a tech ready to help. Had it sorted out in 10 mins with him...

Good to know. Thanks for the pointers on the WiFi. I'll play around with it some more later on this evening. I appreciate your advise.

The app is really the best way to make your selections for size/quality and for those shots that you can't see the screen on to line up its priceless to stand above it and adjust it easy.
