Hi, I'm new here and yesterday I bought a 2000 automatic mustang GT.

Everything is fine except that when I want to fill it with fuel at the gas station, it always shuts off. Even if I try not to enter the whole thing in the filling tube and not pull hard on the trigger, it shuts off after 1 to 5 seconds.

I think it may be a venting problem or something ? What should I do ?

Thanks a lot

PS Don't hesitate to ask questions if you don't understand my english.

Its alright, I know some french but not much... reguardless, Does it always happen at the same pump? also can you vair the rate at which the pump flows IE not full on like "half throttle" If it happens at almost every pump, I would say you either have an issue with your fuel filler neck or fuel pump. You will have to drop the tank and inspect for any pinched vapor vent lines and or any blockages.

id second on the vapor vent line.... to explain it if you dont know is like normal plumbing. you have a pipe you dump water into. eventually the pipe isnt full but stops flowing and back flows(hence, fuel pump stops in your case). with a inline connection to make air escape, it continuously flows until both lines are full.

A guy on another mustang forum told me to try to fill the car when the engine is on and i was surprised to see that it worked. Not very safe but it works...
