Ok so we all know by popular vote 3:73 gears is used most. I want to get rid of these clumsy 3:55 so it main question is the 3:73 best for normal street racing and occasional drag or 4:10 better for the long run and some good fun?

the higher your gear, the lower your top speed will be. 4:10 gear = excellent acceleration upgrade, poopoo top end speed, 3:73 = great acceleration upgrade, so so top end. I've got 3:73 gears in my 95 GT, and saw 165mph last night on way home from work. ( playing with my boss in his vette on a empty highway at 4am. :nono: ) 4:10's should keep you in the 130-140 range if I'm not mistaken. Go with 3:73 unless your car is all out drag car.

Ok, can anyone honestly say they went went with 3.73's over 4.10's simply because they wanted to see 160MPH instead of "just" 140?

OP you didnt mention whether you have an auto or 5 speed. Thats gonna make up the deciding factor because 410's are a great thing in an auto because of overdrive but not so cool in a 5-speed, unless you like to fill you tank up with gas all the time if you highway drive it.

Why would someone go that fast on the street anyways? You wont even see whose speeds at the track.

Some people get to see those speeds sometimes. I drive 29 miles to\from work everyday, and about 14 miles of it is a long stretch of straight flat highway with nothing\nobody around. Me (95 gt), my boss ( 07 zo6), and a coworker ( custom built honda) get our chance to play every now and then, and we see those speeds once in a while.

well like you mentioned with the auto or 5 speed idk how much of a difference it is but im changing out the entire trans and drivetrain of the car reason for the gear question
With the tremec magnum t-56 6 speed will it have any difference on the selection between the two
and yes i agree on the top end, i got the 3:55 now and i cant complain just not what i really am looking for, but for a normal street play and occasional drag i think that the 3:73 are the way to go

going from 3.55 to 3.73 is not much of a difference. You will notice a difference between 3.73 and 4.10 though. I love my 4.10's I did fear the gear when I first had a gear swap done and did not want to go higher then 3.55. Never again anything less then 4.10
