So, i never charged my oil before MYSELF and its time to do it. My father has always charged the oil, but now i need to start learning to do it myself f b/c im running the o/r midpipe.

I checked out the write up on http://www.mustangworld.com/ourpics/fcar/oilc1.htm

and it seems like a straight forward job.

My real big question is:

1. Is this a really easy job? ( im always under the car anyway switching midpipes/ removing tailpipes/etc lol so what the hell. Minus well do the oil change.

2. DO you use a oil wrench to remove the old filter. If so, what kind? My father actually uses a hammer and screwdriver to remove the oil filter lol.

Easiest thing to do on the car. Just unscrew the drainplug and let all the oil drain out. Then when it is done/slow drip screw the pug back in and then take the old filter off. I use the Fram sure grip filters so I really don't need a wrench but You pry will need one. Take that off and let what is left drain out and before you put the new filter on take some of the old oil and run your finger over the gasket on the new filter. Then just fill it up and it should be good to go.

I hate filter wrenches lol. I stopped liking them when I did oil changes at Sears. I use my hands. Although last time my Mom needed her stangs oil changed I did it and about broke my arm off trying to get that freaking thing off. I wouldnt use Frams, they are pretty crappy filters these days. The sure grip would be nice, the K&N is really expensive but it has a nut welded on the bottom.

All else fails use 60 grit LOL. :xmascheers:

maybe automotive they're crappy sometimes but for heavy equipment they work wonders. i love my mac filter wrenches. haha

frams seem alright.. the amount they get changed (or should be anyways), almost any oil filter should be good.. not sure what they have for a ppm rating tho or how much it varies with engine oil filters. i know hydraulics vary a lot.
