Well Im going to the Drag strip next sunday and need some points and est. 1/4 mile times. I have never been on a strip before, but Have done launching/shifting on the street outside my city where nobody goes. My cousin who is running his 83' Mustang GT 383 stroker is lending me some old drag radials to try out. Whats it like to launch/ shift with these? Also, My car is bone stock, stock 2.73 gears sadly and I just have the air silencer removed with a K&N filter in it, what 1/4 mile time should I expect? 15.5? Any help is greatly appriacted, sooo pumped for my first runs:).

If you can get it off the line it'll probably be around a low 15. With the DRs it'll let you slip the clutch out higher, with your gear though it's going to be pretty slow going off the line I would think. Being your first time at the track expect to be disappointed at your first few runs, and remember to go on the last yellow.

Lol I know to be dissapointed, my brothers stock 08' GT/CS ran a 14.4@99mph. I was going to put 3.73s in this summer, but some asshole had to hit my car, having the car door repaired was a higher need than the gears. If I put 3.73s on, what might it bump me to?

yep best i could get mine to on about a 95 degree day was 14.8 at 94.8mph and thats on bald sumitomo tires 10.5 in back, 3.73 gears 5spd, full exhaust n a gt40 intake..i think my best 60ft was like 2.4 or somethin..idk they were terrible i know that..its a fun experience your first time but i guess my nerves got me on a couple runs lol...i think with the drag radials if you heat them good and get them to stick you shouldnt do to bad but yea the 2.73s will be sluggish off the line

Thanks for the help! Again, my mom is the stop, she won't let me race until I have driven for a year. So sadly, I have to wait until spring to race my car, by then I should have my 3.73s installed :).

Im under 18 so I need parental consent. My mom WOULD find out, and if she does well, my dad and myself might not have balls much longer after that. Still, Its going to be nice to see my cousins mustang run good this time :).

With a completely stock cars as yours you will probably run better with street tires. This is because with all that traction and no power you will bog down very bad off the start and it will kill you 60' and you 1/4 mile time. But good luck when you go and just give it hell

Sadly,we never risked running it, didn't want my dads and my life to end this early. I got to talk to a few other SN95 owners, and told some of them to join up here. One of the guys had a stock 95' GT with an autobox and 4.10 gears and ran a 14.8. Another 94' GT with the 5 speed, heads, slicks, 3.73s, longtubes, and pulleys pulled a 13.8 constantly, ran a 14.2 once on a bad launch. Can't wait until next year when i am allowed to run it, The atmosphere ROCKS out there on a race day. People couldn't believe I was running 275s up front :p, they said its very uncommon lol!

275's up front is way extra weight for drag racing, by getting 3.5" rims and skinnies you could easily save 50 lbs off the front end.
