Took this 15 sec video for instagram. Not even cranked up all the way. Literally makes the hair on your head stand up. Sit in the back seat... Fuhgeddaboudit. I want new speakers though. Bass is crystal clear, no distortion. Just need new speakers even though these old alpines are good, want newer ones so its louder.

Heres the youtube upload

You got some serious dynamatting to do lol. I had 2 10's wired to a 800 watt amp, i took em out. I just installed 4 good speakers and sounds much better. The subs were too much for me

What kind of system are you running?

You got some serious dynamatting to do lol.

That's exactly what I was thinking.

I've contemplated putting a small system in my car but every little part of the car would probably rattle and I would get fed up real quick.

Yeah man I'm looking forward to dynamatting it. It doesn't rattle like your typical $500 car with a $3000 stereo.. I got 2 10s wired to a 860 watt amp. I need to put better speakers in, these alpines gotta be like 10 years old from whoever else owned the car before me. I listen to a lot of rap/ hip hop, so I love bass.

I'm running the following
Alpine 5x7 speakers (old as ****, idk how old exactly. Want to swap them out for some rockford fosgate punch's)
ARC Audio 4100 SE amplifier (860 Watts)
2- 10'' JBL subwoofers in a custom box made for 94-04 stangs
Alpine deck

I want to dynamat the trunk, thats the only part of the car that needs it. Dude you'll be fine with a system, if you do some dynamat or other sound proofing inside the trunk, you'll have no rattles.

I'd honestly dynamat your door panels, and trunk.
I'm contemplating on wiring my fronts and rears to an amp and just dynamatting the doors and rear part where the vert' seats are. Currently when my bass is turned up the doors rattle a tiny bit so i don't crank it up too much.

I'd like to do my trunk and underneath the carpet under the seats. My door panels don't rattle at all, not on low volume or cranked up on songs with some serious bass. I'm not sure if my fronts and rears are wired to my amp, I know the subs are for sure.

My Grand Am had the ultimate sound system in it for my liking. And it took the breath out of you at the same time, literally lol. It would never fit in the Mustang and I just don't want it in the Mustang. It's in the Jeep. The Mustang has a... I don't even remember the brand 12" in it with about 500rms going to it. It's a 250rms sub lol but I know how to tune it so it doesn't blow up on me. Plus I never have the sub all the way up either. The Grand Am had this:

2 American Bass XD 15's in ported box
3000rms going to them from an RE Audio amp
Rockford T400-2 powering the highs
2 P1 6.5's
2 P1 6x9's

If your going for a good system in your car and don't much care about the added weight DEFINITELY add dynamat. Dude the subs rattled my Grand Am to almost pieces because I didn't add any. The wing was starting to crack because of the vibrations being so violent on the trunk deck. I can't stress that enough. A good system is nothing without dynamat.

As for the highs, well once you dynamat the car throw some Rockfords in (you can use whatever brand you like, but Rockford was always my favorite for highs and amps) and see what it sounds like. With the matting in place, you may not even need subs to satisfy your bass needs. The matting will help give you more solid bass without all the rattling and such that causes you to lose some of the lower frequency notes..

Whatever you choose to do tho, I'd be sure to ask ttocs his opinion. He's our resident ex audio installer and he'll have all the answers for ya

Nice lol. I'm interested in swapping these old alpines for rockford fosgate punch's. My subs are good, amp is top of the line, only thing holding the system back is the speakers. 10+ year old alpine speakers with my system make it pretty loud to the point where your ears will ring and you just might get a migraine lol. Imagine adding the new speakers, omg.. I'm waiting for my rear view mirror to fall off lol. I want to dynamat it, the trunk definitely, and underneath the carpet.

Definitely get some sound deadner. I have one 12 inch sub in my saturn running 900 watts rms and now that thing rattles like crazy just driving down the road.Gotta turn the radio on just to drownd out all the rattling.

Do you have pictures of your sub box? Is it an exact fit?

Box for the subs is not built yet. The enclosure for the 9s in the doors is done but need too finish the cover for it

here is your dyno mat. this is thicker. sticks better and does a better job. also asists with keeping hear in/out. much much much cheaper too. i have this in my 94 and i did it in my 68 and its like night and day differance
It also leaches a carcinogen(that tar-paper smell- yea that is a proven carcinogen in cali), can melt and create a HUGE mess if it gets too hot and nearly impossible to clean up when it does. This stuff is NOT the same as automotive sound damping. It is made SPECIFICALLY for outdoor roofing use and should NEVER be used inside of any car you like or plan on keeping.

There are a number of brands made for this cheaper then dynamat but peel-n-seel has NO use in the automotive world... Welcome to the forum. we welcome good/cheap alternatives but this is not one of them....

Glad you noted that. I was going to say the same.
