Howdy, I put a post up a while ago about pulling my engine and needed help with motor mounts, now is a different subject. My 200,xxx mile bottom end decided to take a poop and its coming out. I have an explorer 5.0 block ready to go in. Its going to be punched out to a 306, and I want to keep my ported GT40 heads and intake on it, (cause i really cant afford aluminum heads lol) but any who, im debating weather to keep the trickflow stage 1 cam i had in it, or put in a whole new cam (with all the supporting mods of course) I'm jus wondering if anybody has ran, or know of a good GT-40 set up. Dont get me wrong I like my tfs 1 cam, and i may very well keep it, just curious if there is a better cam to run. My car is a daily and occasionally hits the drag stip, she likes to run the streets alot too :) I'd like to make good mid-high range power. I've been looking in to comp cams, i really like the xe282hr cam, but tht might be a tit to big. I dunno guys, any help is appreciated THANKS!

The tfs 1 cam works great with ur combo. I'd port ur lower a bunch before putting it back together and get ur heads ported while ur at it. We're you running stock injectors ? 24's would be a nice addition . The gt40 setups can put down nice numbers

Agree. Port the snot out of the lower. I used a good bit of epoxy on it too.
Im running the stock cam on 1.6 RRs. The TFS 1 should be really nice with it, just remember you will need new springs. I think trickflow sells a kit for like 70 bucks/

My gt40s are milled .040, could do alot more for more power.

And also look into 24's and the supporting hardware for those. Should run good. Mine does!

good deal fellas, thanks. I have all the supporting hardware. I have the trickflow springs, and venom 24lb'ers, bbk MAF, etc. Even with a bad bottom end my gt40's and tfs 1 cam ran good. Now with a more "fresh" bottom end, it'll run even better :)
