I ran a black one that looked 100% stock and it did a 13.60 at BB in the heat. He slept on the tree and might have been a bit rusty, though, because I'm sure it can do better than 13.6's stock. :)

depending on his mods, its a drivers race manual to manual. i would say do a pi swap for sure, some gears, a small stall, and a good tire and you will beat him. all the other stuff is nice, but not a neccessity for such a race. i raced my buddies 96 formula tonight 6spd, he ran 13.44 at 105 and i got him pretty good 2 outta 3 times, i think by the end of the night he blew his motor lol

Agreed, you don't NEED ported heads, a P51, or custom cams to beat him.

Control arms, a 3800 stall, stock PI heads, Jmod, tires, gear's, and Comp 260's, VT stage I's will make it a driver's race.

thanks guys, i keep forgetting that when installing the PI heads and cams it'll increase my compression, so that right there should help me out quite a bit, i plan on doing a stall and upgrading to 4.10 gears for awhile until that other block is built and running, then ill get a different stall and 3.27 gears

Jrgunn- the GT already has upper & lower control arms, 3.73 gears

also, what is the Jmod? i keep seeing that on several threads but i dont what it is/does

it's basically a shift kit you can do with hardware store part's. It was designed by the guy who was the lead engineer on the 4r70w. Bumps line pressure, quicker band engagement for firmer/quicker shift's. Should make you trans last longer if it's in good shape now also.

Your PI swap with basic bolt on's (exhaust, maybe TB and elbow, etc) should get you in the 240-250 neighborhood, putting you right there with him and bolt on's, converter, gear's, your current suspension and sticky tires will probably put you over the top. At any rate you won't be embarrassed at all.

awesome, thanks for the quick reply

i was thinking of the PI heads an cam, PI intake is already installed, 4.10 gears, stall and 17x9/17x10.5 fr500's w/ 315/35-17 M/T D/R's or BFG D/R's... it's definately gonna help me that his T/A is on 19" rims w/ some tires that cant catch traction if his life depended on them
