Alright, I have enough money to get a set of gt40 heads and port them or there's a local shop that sells/installs 3.73 gears for $295 as a package deal. What would yall go with?

I have a Ford tech that will put the heads on for free...I have whatever stock gears came with the car...current mods are: CAI, cobra intake, u/d pulleys, shorty headers, o/r x-pipe, lm1's(dumped), MSD 6AL, MSD coil, and then suspension stuff.

You might have 3.27 or even possibly a 3.08 rear gear. If he will put the heads on for free heck yeah then do both. Also be careful on you say 295 includes everything and make sure there not Yukon gears or used gears that have been trashed. Most places in my old place in GA quoted me 300 bucks just for install. If your going to have the Ring and Pinion done why not rebuild the trac lock with the carbon disc and use some 75w90 full syn fluid and a 3.73 :) If you worried about breaking them pick up a set of Hardened 28 spline axles.

Imo the gears are going to be a better choice for now. I assume you still have the stock GT manifold and those heads aren't going to do a lot for you with the stock intake and no tune. Go with the gears and it'll give you a lot more kick for your daily.

I have a cobra intake onyx, and I was thinking about going with gears but that's a little more costly

You'll notice more of a difference with gears.

I would do a set of Ford Racing 3.73's

Since it's just for your daily driver my initial thought is why bother putting money into making your DD faster when it could be better spent elsewhere? I mean it's fun and all but does your daily driver really need gears and a head swap? Just drive it.

I'm gonna have to agree. I drive a 16.7 @ 82 mph FWD car on the daily. I could get some rims for it and drop it with the SVT Focus suspension, or get an SVT header, or cat-back but it doesn't need it. Why? Because the Focus just gets me to and from the place I go to make money so I can turn around and dump it into my Mustang.

Just my $.02

This car will be my daily driver throughout the rest of high school and through college. That's why I want to add performance parts to it, I'm not jsut using this car as a beater. It is going to be my car for a good amount of time

You have a Cobra and a GT and you're modding both of them and you're not done with high school yet? Jeez.

Anyways i still don't think I'd bother with modding it, it's still a nice car as is and there's really no reason for it to be any faster. If you keep it how it is it'll stay nice and reliable.

i love my 3.73's but at the same time i miss my endless 5th gear of my old 2.73's
if you have 2 stangs and ones a daily i say leave the gears alone and do the heads.

i gotta drive 600+ miles tomorrow in my gt and im not gonna like the drive.
last time i did it i was at 2k rpms doin 80mph now i'll be doin 3k rpm at around 70mph.

im just trying to say keep one freeway friendly!
