I picked up a GT40 last week to port to flow with my GT40 heads and figured Id spice it up a little instead if it being bland. So far the upper is finished but the lower is getting ported so I havent touched it yet.

Here are some pics. I put a little subtle detail into it to pull away from all the semi gloss black.

Looking good.
That piece that juts out of the upper for the explorer throttle cable rubs the under hood insulator a little bit. Some guys cut them off and grind in the ridges to make it look like it was never there. Its not a big issue though.
We will have to head up to the track some weekend when we both get our projects done.

LOL scott thats funny because by the time i got all the factory powder coat off this one it was pretty much polished. I used some 120 grit to scuff it before priming it.

I chemically stripped mine. Just let it sit overnight after hosing it down with some citris stripper and it was falling off the next morning. The scale left from the casting is actually pretty thick but it does sand down pretty fast.

I can appreciate the time and effort it takes to port an intake. Its a great peace of mind kind of thing after its done. Although from my computer screen it flat out looks like you spray painted it, which to me is kind of dissapointing since you have obviously put some elbow grease into this. My suggestion is strip the paint off one more time and get that nice clean finish that powder coating can get ya. Good luck.

Yes I did spray bomb it but I used the high temp engine enamel not just some cheapo paint from wal mart. I may powder coat it in the long run but for now it looks good and smooth.

Yes I have put some work in it as of now and will have a lot of work into it once I port it.

Have fun porting the intake, just make sure you have the right tools.

Not really anything hard about it, except that dog legged runner (#1 I think). I built it up alot with JB Weld epoxy and then ported the snot out of it. The rest are easy though.
