I was actually thinking about putting another battery in my trunk for audio purposes, and in case I need it for some other reason :p

ok scott, so essentially i could just simply extend my current battery cables to the trunk, and run them kinda like you did through the fire wall back to the trunk right. just simply extend them?

this is'nt for audio purposes, just going to start decluttering the engine bay.

all you need is the + cable and then ground the battery to a solid point of the chassis and yer done. Just run the cable up to the fusebox hook-up, move teh starter power wire if you have not already and then be sure to fuse the wire 12" from the battery.

I would run the ground to the block my self. Yeah its allot of wire but all your sensors get ground from the block. Also I would run it to the stater since its what pulls the biggest load from the battery.. But im not an electrician and that's just the way I'm getting ready to do mine.

Power wire from fuse box to starter . Power wire from fuse box to battery . Ground in rear of the car but you still need ur chassis to block grounds for obvious reasons

Once you have the relocation kit and you actually take a look its pretty straight forward

the starter power wire that connects to the battery, move that to the fuse block where your new power wire will connect too as well. Can run another ground if you want but the cars electrical system will not know the difference if its grounded to the front or the back of the chassis. I did it more for show really....

Glad I stumbled upon this, because I was thinking of doing the same actually, and for the same reasons too just for cleaning up the bay a tad. Rafaelli I could be wrong here, and Scott will surely correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think you want to have a ground that long man. IIRC you shouldn't have the ground any longer than 3ft. But then again that could just be for car audio.

One question I have, on the same subject as Tony of course :) What size wire should we use to do this? I personally don't think I want to buy a kit, unless the wire cost as much as the kit. So if I were to buy just the wire, and fab up a box, what size wire would i need? And what kind of wire? (Like welding cable)

grounds are always recomended to be as short as possible in audio to just help try to reduce noise. It is generally better to have a shorter ground but again your system will not be able to tell if it is properly grounded up front or in back.

While I ran the ground in my car, it is also grounded to the chassis in 3 places. At the back seat location, by the batteries in the back and under the hood and is common to the two batteries.

lmao, so i obviously need to move the starter wire. duu...sorry for my brain fart. could i just put the starter wire on the positive post at the fuse box? or are you saying extend the wire back to the trunk where my 200AMP fuse will be?

@joey...the wire is 4 guage, but make sure it's actually 4 gauge. sometimes the wire can look to be the same size but just have thick insulation. should be thin tightly wrapped insulation.

no move the starter wire to the fuse box post where you will slap your power wire as well.

You should be ok with 4 awg, 2 would be better and if you have the cash go for 0. It would also be wise of you to upgrade the ground wires at this time or they will become your choke point as they are only slightly larger then an 8 awg. You are already upgrading from the batt to the chassis, just upgrade from the chassis to the block and you will be good. I used the back of one of the bolts for the alt since it is the source and then to the chassis.

What musturd said plus use the thickest wire you can find. I prefer 0 welding wire
