they dont add horsepower. But they do make a stock car faster. With a 275/40r17 and a stock T5 o/d of .68 a 3.08 is gonna top out at 228 mph. 5100rpm which is where our engines stop making power in stock form is 187. Niether one of the cars will go that fast. however adding a 3.55 gear 5100 rpm will come around at 162 mph, i believe a stock mustang with an exhaust and a 3.55 can pull that high. Top speed will be 198 mph.

The new 350Z's are just quick. Plain and simple. From first hand experience the new ones (2007) ones will beat a slightly modded 94/95 mustang. However, the 07 was the first year to have 300 HP as a stock option. You could get it in older models but they had to be the higher option models. I am Happy when I race one because the look on their face if funny, they dont expect me to keep up. Anyway you cut it, its just a fun ride to screw with.

ya a buddy of mine and i raced he had a stock 350 and i had my 97 gt. i beat him off the line everytime and than woop outa nowhere he passed me at like 110 o like the o/p said at least we sound better
