The head is still sitting on it, I :dunno: where my allen drivers went. Still some connections on the intake to pull off, I've been sleeping all day lol. I need to find my masking tape because some of the connections are hardwired, so I'll have to cut them.

I'm not really sure what is the deal with it ATM, the exhaust side of the turbo is filled with oily gunk, but the turbo isn't all worn out. And there is only a normal amount of soot in the exhaust manifold and exhaust ports. So I think the valve seals are fine, or at least not terrible. I think I'm just going to continue on with pulling the head and replace the valves, guides and seals, and have it cut. No sense in tearing this stuff apart more than once. I really just wanna drive it anyway, and I really wanna see what the cylinders look like.

I need the beer to remain calm, lol. I found my allen driver's, but it's flipping cold in there right now, it can wait for another day I think.

typical DSM jumblef**k...keep us updated

It so is, lol, I'm tearing it apart just to see what it looks like as much as anything, and because going down to the bottom is the easiest way to fix crap like those oil lines off the turbo, randomly blocked off hoses, etc.

She has potential lol. Man those kids really did a number on it though. Id be a tad worried about how those kids were driving that car with no blow off valve. Any shaft play on the turbo?

I still have a box full of dsm shit I pulled off my old one before it went to the junkyard. If you want any of it let me know. I am pretty sure I have a chiltons, the hvac knobs, the metal shifter bushings that Dave was talking about, the double din trim for a cd player..... Probably a little more.

Anyway man have fun with it.

The guy that had it immediately before me basically bought it even cheaper than me and flipped it to me for a profit, he just patched it up enough to make sure it ran and sold it to me.

The kid before him I don't think ever drove it. But on the intake side the shaft is solid, I think the seal got munched though because of all the oil in the exhaust side of the housing, there isn't any corresponding oil in the head ports or manifold.

Man that thing is nasty lol. Good little turbos though. I mean not the best but not bad.

Did they use the original block when they re did the motor? Just wondering, if it is the original because up until mid 92 I think they had the "better" 6 bolt after that they did the 7 bolts which got pretty bad rap.

I have very rarely seen those engine bays not covered in oil haha. Mine looked a lot like yours did.

AWD is awesome though i love it i am sure that will be a fun car, it can with some work look real nice too if you dont like the beater look :thumb: anyways good luck i hope they didnt mess it up too bad. I cant believe someone can do that to their car :dunno:

It's a 6 bolt 4g63t/

It's covered in oil because there is an oil feed and return line to the turbo, and a coolant feed and return line, all of with were poorly spliced with rubber hose, and lacking washer's. One of which I see in one of the pics, I must have dropped it, lol. So far I haven't encountered anything to explain the constant smoking, or the gunky oil build up present in the exhuast side of the turbo, but nowhere else. Tomarrow I'll yank the head off it and the mystery will be solved one way or another I guess.

Anyway, if I really wanted to, I could buy another shell for about 500 bucks and cut the quarter's off it pretty easily, and sell the rest. At anyrate, the going rate for these car's start's at around 3k, so I don't mind having a little work to do for 1/3 of the price.
