Alright so i bought my 95 gt about two months ago with 134k and it ran great. i heard about people bumping up their timing up to 14* and they had no problems doing that so i did too. so i bumped it up to 14* and i put 93 in it and it ran awesome and it felt pretty quick for a basically stock 5.0. i had it at 14* for about a month 1/2 until i started having problems starting it in the cold weather and 93 was alot more expensive than 87 so i bumped it back down to 10*. so i was retarding the timing and right as i had the distrib. at 10* i heard a loud click come from the motor and it shut off automatically. it started right up so i didnt think to much of it so i left it at 10* and ever since its been getting worse and worse. it was still difficult in the mornings starting it but it would start within 5-7 seconds of cranking and it drove fine after it warmed up. some days it would just crank and it didnt sound like it wanted to start at all and some it cranks but eventually it starts. for the past 2 weeks its been in my driveway just strait cranking with no sound of wanting to start at all. ive replaced the ignition pickup (pip sensor), ignition module, coolant temp sensor, and spark plugs and now its running but very rough. itll stall out if i give it to much gas at idle and in gear, itll stumble at EVERY rpm and every gear. im getting good fuel pressure with KOEO and KOER and vacuum is at 18-19. ive ran out of ideas.

the only things ive done to it is a coldair intake, bbk 19Ilb calibrated maf sensor, msd wires cap rotor and coil, bbk shorty headers and a full flowmaster exhaust.

Any suggestions will be much appreciated ! this is my first car and i hate seeing it sitting in my driveway ! Thanks alot guys, Tom

Have you tried bumping it up back to 14 degrees? Are you 100% sure you stabbed the dizzy in the same place when you put it back on after the PIP sensor swap?

Are you checking the timing with or without the spout plugged in?the loud click you heard are you sure it came from the engine and not the dizzy?

Yep, agree with everyone above.

Check timing with spout out. Suspect distributor or MAF sensor.

Why did you replace the MAF?

im 100% positive the distrib. is in the same place as before i pulled it, and yes i pulled the spout when i was timing it, i replaced the MAF because it would breakup after 3k so tested it by using MAF cleaner which helped out but only temporarily so i just bought a new one.

Why this, 'bbk 19Ilb calibrated maf sensor' and not a stock MAF? I wouldn't be surprised if this is the cause of your issue. You really don't want a "calibrated" MAF for your application.

when my 95 was breaking up at hi RPM it was because of the coil. I have over 200,000 miles and running the stock MAF.

New doesn't always mean good. Parts can be bad from the box. You need to pull the trouble codes to see if the computer has logged any events. And you do not have to see or have a CEL before events are logged by the computer.

where did you connect the scanner? I gotta ask.
It's very common for people to connect the OBD2 code reader under the dash. Our cars are OBD1 and the reader is connected under the hood be the r/h shock tower.

I've done almost everything with ignition except replacing the distrib. I started with the pip sensor, ignition module, then I got a coolant temp sensor, new plugs, wires, the rotors fine, had the injectors cleaned, put the stock MAF sensor in, air charge temp sensor, and I also put it at cyl 1 tdc comp. Just to make sure I was timed correctly. Anyone have any other suggestions ?

Oxygen sensors? (shot in the dark) You could simply unplug them and see if it runs worse. If it does, chances are its not them.
