Help!!!! Screaming car lol..

So my car is shut down right now, when i crunk it up the other day it made a horrible scream and wouldnt stop, but the car would move, So i stoped and poped the hood and it started smoking. Come to find out, the belt on the car wasnt turning. it seemed a pulley was locked up. Well okay, no biggy i broke the belt loose and it seems my smog pump is the hardest one to turn, and it BEARLY turns, possibly it? We think it's the A/c because it originaly had to much presure in it to begin with.

What could cause the scream??
Enyone have experiance with this kindof problem?

I checked them all, eveyone of them turns even the A/c, the smog is stubbern tho, it doesnt realy wanna turn at all.

So... I figure it's it, besides the guy who had it before me left it all the wya unpluged and i was thinking... ugh.. so i hooked it back up

Ive heard of smog pumps goin bad like that. Do like Fets says and ditch it if you can.

I am when i get the new engine ready, sadly im only about 1500 away from it being done. But i got to have the car fixed dads orders, so is there any way to actualy check? Besides having to tow it to a macanic so he can get it wrong and have to charhge me 500 ?

I'll fix it myself if i just figure out what the hek is screaming...
Like i said, seems that all the pullies turn, but when the Belt is on it doesnt turn when the engine is on, it just screams becauseof the belt rubbing the engine pulley

Do you have AC? Maybe the clutch is gone. Im not sure but I think it only engages when the motor starts and you have it on. The smog pump elim. is 68 bux. Dunno what a new smog pump would be. Ill try to turn my wifes tommorro and see if its as hard as you say. If its not then we will know thats it. O0 She dont git home from work till 10pm and us old guys are asleep by then

The smog pump turned pretty easy Hicks :dunno:. Maybe yours is shot man.

I had one lock up on my 88GT. If it's the same serpentine setup as that all you need to do is get a shorter belt and bypass the smog pump pulley. There will be only about a 1/4 clearance from your tensioner and alternator pulley, but the belt won't stretch until the point that it contacts itself after wrapping around the alternator pulley before ig goes to the water pump/fan pulley.

Like Paul said, Sounds like it is the smog pump. The smog pumps has vanes in the casing and if the previous owner had it unplugged then moisture has gotten in the pump and locked the vanes against the casing. I hope this helps out with your problem.

Yea, that must be it. The A/c rolls around just fine.

hmm.... I gota get a smog pump delete anyway, maby take a shot in the dark and see if it helps.
I couldn't turn my smog pump with one hand, i had to use both

i had a ac clutch go out on my 93 sho. you could here the bearings tear up. it's kinda of a no brainer if only 1 pulley is really hard to turn

Thanks to everyone to helped, It was the smog pump, the geares were fried and it wouldn't turn over for nothing. All is fixed and well. I'd gone without if i could, but I didn't have time to drive to ATL or Order, seeing as dad hired somone to come to the house and fix everything today, i had to play in the mud all day and just get another smog. Which is fine, im not complaining my car runs. lol...
