1. I bought my car on 8/3/03! It came with no mufflers.
2. I bought FlowMasters 40 Series for it.
3. I had 3.5" tips put on. Does that count?
4. I had side exit with IMCO Racing mufflers.
5. I bought Borla's side exit mufflers.
6. I went back to #4.
7. I had dumps put on!

I think that is how it will stay, too! I want to upgrade the motor, but stick with my dumps.

I have been through a few different setups but not like you have. Basically--
1.All stock
2. Weld in Flowmasters (50 series)
3. Weld in Flowmasters (40 series)
4. Custom 2-cat H pipe paired with weld in flows (sounded good actually)
5. Replaced flowmasters with magnaflows
6. replaced custom pipe with mac prochamber

That's my current setup...quiet as can be.

Oh yeah, I totally forgot about work to my cats!!!

I had my front 2 gutted and my back 2 just cut off. I think during #1 or #2.

My current set-up, loud as possible though!!

1. Took delivery on 9-18-1996 Stock, sounded like a Mustang, but very subdued

2., went home, Sawzall blade later, Flowmaster 40's. More agressive, droned at 2200 like crazy

3. Flowmaster American Thunder Cat-Back, BBK offroad midpip, much more aggressive sounding, subdued at cruise and start up, way less drone, but it rusted out in three year's, most of which were sitting.

4. SLP LM1, BBK, Stainless Works Lontubes. What can I say, ProStock sounds there, people heard me miles away. Fit great though, no drone, and no welding. Too much negative attention.

5. removed resonators and welded in Super 40's, tough sounding, no drone, and no rasp like I got from the LM1's. COuld also drive past a cop wihtout knowing what was going to happen.

Here's what I don't understand about mine! When I had it running out the sides, it was raspy as hell! Since I'm running dumps, it's not ever. Can someone describe that for me, please? Because the pipes leading from the mufflers to the tips is very short, does that really differ on the sound?

I never really understood 'that word when you go from 2.5" to 2"' word. I do now though. Sorry, it's late and my brain gets really bad!

i went through many exhaust setups just to get the perfect flowmaster sound. Well, i even brought flows and that didnt do it. I went back to my macs than dumped the exhaust and its perfect.

Wish i couldve heard it with flows dumped, but oh well im happy.

dumps own.. i just need to get rid of the o/r h so my tone is more raspy. Need an o/r X.

Pipes, length, diameter all have an effect on the tone. There was ahuge article in MM&FF awhile back about it.
