In front of you
it was said earlier but it is all in the tune and in your ability to not be retarded. if you keep the boost at a healthy level and arent fidgiting with it youll be fine. Get a nice A/F running a bit phat and youll be set.

I keep my afr levels within the mid to high 11's.. 11.5 to 11.9 is pretty safe..start hitting low to mid 12's then back off cause if the charge temp is high enough you may not even notice the knock you have going on in there..knock= pre-detonation btw..

Ive got my a/f levels around 11.5 and only run 16 degrees of total timing on my 4.6 and im WAY over the stock limits.

I wouldnt be worried if the motor is taken care of and you have a good tuner.

I hear detonation every now and again when I get crappy gas and immediately get out of it. And my tune is really safe.

The only reason I say I don't do stock bottom ends is because more than likely you wont stop at 400hp. And that way if u want 600-800 that step is already done. Then you wont have to take the motor apart again and etc.

Stock block won't hold 600-800hp reliably anyways. I say reasonable boost on the stock motor and if you want more power later on, you can start building a new motor that could handle more.

We can't all have that incredible 3.8 block ;p

As already stated, if it's running good with good compression in all the cylinders, etc. go ahead with very mild boost and a good tune.

driving a boosted car is a different beast alltogether. start with boosting what you have and plan on starting to build your new motor. hopefully by the time you either get bored with what you have or you blow it up you will have the built motor ready. if you plan on eventually building a motor and boosting then there is no real reason to wait on the boost.

just my opinion...........
