90k is nothing for that year. Most cars are way up there! Thats an average of 5625 miles a year!
I had 168k miles on my v6 and it was running very strong. Ive had the car sine 98, so I know its had regular maintenance. Blew a head gasket but it was recalled. The second head gasket was my husbands fault, After gears the governor kicked in at 86mph, and my husband drove for miles trying to make it go faster. Lets see. threw a code, changed the o2 sensor, threw a code, changed the cam positioning sensor... ...really nothing, but it was a 3.8.
Nothing wrong with the motor, but went ahead and swapped in a v8. It was an 86 block, with a bunch of new stuff on it. Supposedly had 3,000 miles on it after a rebuild. So far, Ive put 4,000 miles on top of that. Im at 172k now. Theres been some reliability issues, but thats because we basically built this engine ourselves from the block up, with no previous knowledge, so I dont blame ford, and neither should you. Besides, it looks like its running pretty good and reliable now.
