I didnt paint my rotors... I actually purchased zinc coated rotors and after 80,000 miles they still look perfect and silver.

Zinc coating FTW.

I have baers front and rear, both coated, but for some reason the rears just shit the bed on protection, well i sprayed the whole rotor, pads just ripped off the dry paint just pulling into the garage so the contact area is clean and shouldnt have problems

here is a pic after i painted them, I painted half the rotor with the calipers side taped off etc to prevent overspray, then spun it freely through the caliper once dry and sprayed the other half and blended it all in.

my fronts look perfect like those to dal, i just dont understand why the rears didnt hold up, but i was much more inclined to paint them and call it a day vs remove them and send them in for replacement

damn hit those wheel wells Dal.... hahaha

I just took my rotors and calipers off last week and hit them with some flat black paint I had laying around. Didnt tape off the rotors, but didnt completely coat them either. After I hit the brakes the overspray cleaned up. Looks so much better.

Did you use the meatal rx on the cener only or the hole rotor. I will be picking up a bottle of rx.

gonna try to clean mine up as well, I have the same rear baers, dont really want to paint as they dont get overly rusty at all.

I was just going to use use a scotch pad or wirebrush to clean them all then apply some metal polish/protectant? (what about wheel wax?)

Matt, try #000 steel wool and metal RX on the hard stuff. use a more agressive pad/paper if the rust is deep.

I would just paint them matt... When a car comes to be with rusty rotors, i paint them and the caliper at the same time.

Rustoleum is bomb on the rotors.

Here are some painted rotors from another forum.... he used rustoleum. Looks OEM to me.

I seriously think paint the entire rotor is much easier and looks better.
