Alright.
My plan is to eventually get duals put on but right now im tight in money and was wondering if it would be possible to gut out my current cats so that i could get a little better sound.
I still have most of my stock exhaust except for my muffler is a thrush turbo.
I think that there really isnt no way to get to my cats without just cutting them off.. If i did this would i be able to reattach them so that i would pass inspections...
I dont have emissions though so as long as they are on there im good.
Any ideas on this would be great.

Depending on how many you have, I would just cut them off and weld up a pipe. Mine has 4, friends has 6 and some just came with 2. I read somewhere where someone did flow tests between straight pipe, cats and gutted cats and the gutted ones flowed worse than leaving them alone. If you need to pass emissions wherever you are, I would leave them alone. If you don't do emissions testing where you live then find a shady place to get your inspection and just get rid of them. there's not really a good solution unless you get an off road y and switch them out when you need inspection.

Gutting your cats isnt the best idea. I mean yes you will pick up a few horsepower but it will not sound that great above 3500 rpms it'll sound really raspy. And V6 cars came with 4 cats and V8 cars came with 6 cats. And then you have to worry about your o2 sensors but since your car is 95 you'll only have 2 o2 senors since you have OBD1.

My car actually has an OBDII system in it.
Yeah i thought it was weird to but thats what they told me at the parts store.
also i think my car only has 2 cats but i could be wrong on that one.
I think ill just cut them off and replace them with pipe.
Then when i want to put them back ill just replace them. or buy a new y pipe with cats.
Would this work?

Well if you're going to cut them off Id say just get a y pipe welded up so you can keep your stock one so when you need to get emissions checked you can just put the stock one back. That is if your state has emissions. Cause I know in the part of Virginia I live in we dont have emission sniffers or any test like that. And the guy we get our cars inspected doesnt check for cats. But thats for me I dont know your situtation.

Well i tried finding an off road y pipe but havent come up with finding one So i figured i would just buy one with the cats and cut the ones off the one i got now.
We dont have emissions either but i dont know if they will nail me about getting an inspection without cats.
i guess ill try and get it inspected early and see if they will pass it without the cats on it. If not then ill buy a y pipe with them on it.
However removing my cats is gonna probably make my O2 sensors go crazy so is there any way i can get some type of override for them so they dont make my car run like SH*T..
Thanks

your car will run fine, you'll just have a check engine light.

but if part of your emissions testing requires you to not have a check engine light, then you can buy MIL elimnators or have the check engine light removed in a tune.

and fun fact that was brought up already; 1994 and 1995 V6

So i want to go about removing the cats and just replacing them with exhaust pipe but i i took it to have it done at an exhaust shop and they told me they wont touch em cause they can go to jail for it.
So my plans are to just cut em off with a saw zaw and put pipe in there place.

Where can i go to get the parts i need for this and can i do this without having to weld anything?
