Jack car up.

Put jack stands under the torque boxes in front of the lower control arm mount.

Lower car onto the stands.

Support the axle by the diff with the jack at near full suspension droop.

Remove the top retaining nut. (various sizes depending on brand of shocks. Stock is 15mm. Tokico is 15mm. Koni is 17mm.)

Remove lower retaining bolt and nut. Bolt is 15mm. Nut is 18mm.

The shock will now be removable. Just wiggle it out of the shock mount.

Repeat for other side.

Installation is reverse of removal.

Follow these directions and you will be done in a half hour. Follow ones that instruct you to take off the brakes, and you will pray to be struck down by lightning.

Happy modding.

Which is precisely why I made this how to. I hear of people bringing their car to a shop for a shock replacement, and think "seriously? You could do it in the same time it takes them to write an invoice."

Struts on the other hand... Not my favorite thing to do, though the write up will be here within the week on how to do the struts.

I just did this over the weekend and was going to write up a how to on it but I see one is already here so I'll just throw in some pics. These are for Strange 10 way adjustable shocks the install is the same but I'll also post pics of the correct bushing configuration to use on the shock.

Place the car up on jacks stand or a lift.

Remove the liner in the trunk exposing the shock tower and remove the top nuts.

Remove the lower bolts on the shock

uppershock4.jpg

Place the new shock into place

uppershock7.jpg

Tighten the top nut until it compress's the bushing

uppershock8.jpg

All done, lower the car and enjoy your new shocks

For those doing the strange struts (and I'm sure its the same for others) this is how you do the bushing configuration.

Place one the cap on the bottom, the cap has a hump on one side, that hump needs to be facing down

Place one bushing on w/ the raised part of the bushing in the center facing up. Take the second bushing and place it so the raised section in the center is facing down so the raised sections are facing each other. Place the second bushing and cap on once the shock has been pushed back up through the shock tower

Place the second cap on the top with the hump facing up.

yeah that's the way they were on the Koni's I took off. Probably universal for every shock out there.

Just as a heads up the bushings should not be compressed. The cap should be snug against the bushing, but it should not be misshapened. At least that is what the instructions my Konis came with said.
