when ever i pull it into 4th i get a slight grinding sound. it happens when up shifting or down shifting. nothing in anyother gear, so it's not the clutch. i think it my synchros. i just need confirmation from ya'll. does anybody have an extra t-5 sitting around, i'll take a t-56 if that's all ya have.

Probably. Over time the friction material on the blocker rings (synchros) wears off and they are unable to synchronize the speed of the gears appropriately - so you end up with a grind going into gear. Third gear in my '95 daily driver is doing the same thing right now. A rebuild would fix this. In the meantime, you can just baby it by taking your time shifting gears to allow the synchros a little more time to work.

Paul.

Mine did that with 2nd, but now its gotten to where I have to skip it. Not a big deal with my 4.10s, but annoying none the less. Going in the shop sooooonnnnn though. Like tonight or tommorow soon. :D

rebuild the trans yourself. Its well worth the effort. My 95 randomly grinds, randomly meaning it typically doesn't, 3rd and 4th mainly when its cold.

it does it in 4 th because thats the 1:1 ratio.. mine did that is it whining?
if so the bearing could be going out..

if you ever plan on modding go ahead and buy a 400 hp 375 tq kit from D&D performance.. comes with everything but youll need a fox body bell shift fork and the bearing retainer.

probably a combination of the blocker ring, slider and the gear on the input shaft. Had the same problem with my second gear and third.

Mine did that for a long time, i babied it and when i started to contemplate my T-56 swap i decided to let er have it, shortly after that it went out. I think as long as you dont abuse it you should be ok long enough to save up for a rebuild or a T-56 swap. I recomend the T56 swap though hehe

with the 4:10's a t-56 is almost a necessity. but with a wife and kids it's prob a pipe dream

I have even heard Some people over at SVTP even running 4.30 4.56 and i think i saw one or 2 that ran a 4.90
