Idle issues, possible ignition problems?

I know my car isn't going to run 100% right at the moment due to installing a HCI without a tune(no money sadly). But recently it's been having some strange idle issues. It varies too, but when I idle for using 30-90 seconds the engine will suddenly rev up and die. If I give it gas when it starts to die it stays running, but it has been dieing at almost every red light now. It also seems to have some sluggish acceleration at times too. Again, I know it won't run amazing without a tune, but I have been going for almost 3 months without one and these idle issues are becoming more and more frequent. Any guesses? I think it might be the ignition coil as it's the bone stock one and it's the original one too(about 140k miles on it).

When was the last time you cleaned the MAF? Checked for any trouble codes?

don't have a scanner, but as I said, untuned so their probably is some rich/lean codes but I'm not 100% postive on that. MAF is brand new with less than 2000kms on it lol.

You don't need a scanner to get trouble codes from the car, a paper clip, haynes/chilton manual, and the ability to read.

I have 170,000+ miles on my stock coil. I'm not saying it isn't bad but it's not where i would start looking.

Pull codes, Clean the maf and iac, replace plugs, wires, and cap.

Everything as I said has less than 2000kms(less than 1000 miles) on it, including plugs, I just re-did the engine :p. MAF is clean as can be. I honestly think these computers have a mind of their own as I just went out and it didn't do it once, so I think it's more of the lack of a tune doing it more than anything sadly.
