Hey guys, ever since i got my 94 mustang i have been having idle problems , its worst when i want to use my AC, actually i get the idle problem with the AC on only, i live in florida and for a DD u need the AC more than anything lol, so what happens is after i start my car my idle is fine at around 850 to 900 rpm with a bit of surging sometimes also after it has started, when i turn my AC everything looks ok, idle drops a bit wich i guess is normal since motor has more load on it, but after driving and stoping at a red light for example my idle will start surging really bad to the point were it just goes up and down, up and down and dies if i dont give it gas manually, its really annoying cuz if ur in a place were the car rolls then i got to let off the brake and tap the gas while holding the E-brake , my car is a 5speed so yah. Anyways also while driving without ac after i stop at a light my idle wont go down from 1000, it just hangs there until i reach another stop were sometimes is back to its normal position, I have already adjusted my tps voltage to .98v and cleaned my TB and idle sensor but nothing seems to help, my motor is not modded or anything , it just has BBK headers and some cheap Pepboys thrush mufflers. I want to try all the solutions before i go down the autoparts and drop 60 dollars into a new idle sensor.
A bit offtopic here guys but i got to ask this when i got the car the PO had some aftermarket tall valve covers on the car wich in turn needed intake plenum spacers, after the covers giving me trouble with my alternator i got rid of them and installed stock fox covers, i kept the spacers tho, now i noticed that my EGR valve is just hanging to the side connected to nothing and the little whole on the intake were the valve would go is just sealed off with a piece of plastic and some JBweld, that damn idiot even sawed off one of the wholes for the screws and i cant install it back even if i wanted too, need a new plenum. Now is the EGR important for the engine other than for smog ? I heard that its important that it works since it helps cool the combustion chamber and since i live in miami anything with the word cool is important to me for my engine, could the EGR not being used cause some of my Idle problems? Sorry for the wall of text guys im just in some need of help , i dont want anything to happend to my baby and im in financial problems atm and cant afford a major repair.
