Hello, I just but these Mach 1 wheels : Theres in good shape, probably 90%, but I saw some little's scratch, a friend just suggest a wet sand with 800 paper, I just want to be sure, It's not aluminium directly, there a clear on the wheel, maybe someone got an idea to make my used wheels like new ? F.
I don't have any first hand experience with this but 800 grit seems a little too harsh. Maybe 1600 or 2000 to start. It's always better to start to soft than use some agressive and tear the clear right off the wheel. Check out Autopia.org and their forum. There are a lot of guys on there that KNOW what they are doing and have been in the same situation as you are. Good luck. O0
Here are some things I dug up. This tells you how to strip the clear, then polish, then clearcoat again http://www.finishing.com/107/72.shtml This one is good. Particularly post #7 http://grassrootsmotorsports.com/board/viewtopic.php?id=27155
