wow "you" said dissapointing! lmfao

Relax, im not saying the car is disappointing...more or less the drivers are at inside line suck and the conditions probably werent great considering what motor trend did with the car.

"The great Pony Car War has been raging longer than many of us have been alive, with countless skirmishes over the years. The latest battle began with the arrival of Chevy's new 580-hp Camaro ZL1. But Ford has quickly regained the high ground with its all-new 2013 Ford Shelby GT500. Boasting 662 horsepower and 631 lb-ft of torque, the GT500 is the most powerful production car made in America and a fitting tribute to the late Carroll Shelby -- one of the leading generals in Ford's decades-long war against Chevy.
For our first official taste of the 2013 GT500, we headed down to Atlanta, where we had a chance to sample the latest super 'Stang at the track and out on the open road. Rolling along on the highway, the GT500's extra horsepower and torque isn't as noticeable as you might think. In top gear at around 80 mph turning roughly 1500 rpm, it's a complete pussycat, with minimal engine and exhaust noise. It's getting to 80 that's the fun part. Hammer it from a stop and the rush of torque is amazing, helping to move the GT500 from 0-60 mph in scant 3.5-seconds, on toward a quarter-mile time of 11.6 seconds at 125.7 mph during our performance testing (.3 and .5 seconds faster than the ZL1, respectively). If the car isn't completely hooked up the tires will quickly become burnt toast, but the new GT500 is absolutely controllable. There's something cool about having the authority over that kind of power, but you absolutely must respect it at all times."

Motor trend got 11.6 @ 126 mph out of it so thats a bit more where I expected to see it.

Yeah it is somewhat sad that a car with that power was only able to do a 12.2, but they said it just needs tires and a driver for 11's. And this is what Inside Line also said that I'm particularly glad to read. -

"In the GT500's defense, the testing conditions weren't ideal. We were testing at a crowded event. By the time we did our first run at Atlanta Dragway, our car had already done nearly 20 passes, so the GT500 didn't quite get the numbers we thought it might. Under perfect conditions and the right driver this is an 11-second car easy.

One thing's for sure, it is durable. Proof? Within about a two-and-a-half-hour window, five Shelby GT500s made 152 quarter-mile passes without a single failure. No overheating, no fried clutches, no broken driveshafts."

I can't wait to see what they do with some slicks, and a pulley/tune.

yep, the vettes are great cause they are light in addition to that awesome motor...I expect to see 2013 gt500s around those times with some decent tires.

I would say my car ran 11.35@ 121 with less than 500 crank hp.

Idk what 385 to the wheels calculated to at the flywheel but I would imagine it was only like 450-475 but my car also weighs 500 lbs less than a gt500

Also I think gears would help a lot. I heard they gave it really tall gears in order for it to hit 202mph top speed, which is a pretty cool feature.

Yea, tall gears for top speed nad to try and keep the damn thing from doing notyhing but spinning.

Of course you could probably throw some gears in there and run 10s on slicks with a badass driver.
