Hopefully going to check out and possibly pick up used 4.10's for a friend tomorrow. Is there anything in particular I should be looking at/for other than just plain wear/chips etc.?

you really shouldnt buy used gears, BUT i have used gears in my car, and they dont whine, they dont any noise. if you do get used ones they need to be installed by a really skilled tech or else if they arent set on the same markings, they will make noise. and i wouldnt do it with a set of shit ones either only ford gears would i buy used

Thanks guys. I did pick them up, the wear in them was barely noticeable, and it looks to be even across the teeth. They are original Ford ones by the looks of them.

I discourage the thought of installing used ring and pinion because
the installer must be particular and definitely precise on the install
or you will get noise from the rear end.I hope your install turned out
o.k. though.
I would only consider installing new FRPP ring and pinion in my mustang.
