As stated i installed a jlt cold air intake on my 94 cobra from a bbk chrome fenderwell mount.
now the car hesitates and has bad throttle response and some times pops through the intake when revving it, act like the timing is off. all i did was relocate the maf to inside my fender well as the air intake calls for. the maf and intake air temp sensor were the only things i messed with and there both plugged in.

another ????????? when this problem happens at its worst the check engine light will come on and then turn off, can i still pull codes even though i have a dyno tune with a sct chip?

wow, I just experience that myself in the last few days. I modified my intake so it stays inside the engine bay and not in the fenderwell, and now all is well. I'm not saying relocating everything back into the bay will remedy the issue, but if it comes down to it, it worked for me. good luck with that man. hopefully someone more experienced will chime in and pinpoint the issue for you.

just wondering why you would change from a bbk fender mount cai to a jlt? just to move the maf into the fender???

i would put the bbk gear back on and be happy with it.

No pulling codes will not mess up your tune. Pull them and see whats stored. Second, if it was me, I'd put the old perfectly fine works as advertised set up back on. putting the MAF there does nothing for performance.

Thanks guys for the feedback. I change cold air cause i dented(smashed up) the hell out of the chrome bbk fender mount trying the mount a strut tower brace. then came to conclusion a stuttower is not meant to be on my car (have 3/8 intake spacer, steeda cc plates, and ac manifold line that attaches to accumulator that all interfere with the STB) so thought I'll just get some high $$$ and cooler looking JLT air intake.
I'm going to put bbk CAI back on and see if problem is fixed. if so buy a new BBK CAI.
other forums were telling me sometimes when maf is moved/relocated/mounted at different angle. they can react badly(especially being dyno tuned). so ill give that a shot.

OH i was asking since its sct dyno tunes can i pull dtc codes from normal Ford (ngs) scanner. or would i need some sct hardware/software or tuner to tell me the diagnostic trouble code?

No a ford tool will do just fine. If you wanna try to put the JLT back on, you can try clocking the maf in 45 or 90 degree intervals. It will relocate where in the stream the sample tube picks up the flow.

steeda makes a brace to go over this.

if the filter element supplied with the new intake is serviceable (can be oiled) check that it wasnt over oiled from the factory and has now contaminated your mass air sensor. cleaning the maf with automotive electrical parts cleaner would be the first step if it is in fact a serviceable filter.
