good luck to anyone with a auto trying to install them.. it was a big pain in the ass job.. it got to the point i had the motor sitting on the sway bar, and the K member hanging down below.. took me from 3-10:30 wednesday and 10 in the morning to 10 at night.. just to get the LT's in and the K member and motor sitting back up.. and i still have to put the suspension together in the front, and make a mid pipe for it.. thankgod i have a 5 day vacation. EVERYTHING fought me, name it, it was a pain. The passenger side was enough to just make you want to beat your self with a hammer.. and my X pipe isn't going to work out like i had hoped, so that babys going to have to go. This was a big job.. i dont suggest it to the light hearted. Unless you have serious tools like i do, find someone that does. i'll post up some pictues of it later on today.. oh well, the sound should be worth it

yea... LT's are a bitch on a motor as wide as ours. The automatic makes it worse.

I went shorties and was happy

Thats why when people ask about LT's i tell them to save it for when they have bigger things planned like a Tubular K swap or engine swap/tranny swap etc...

also why i have shorties :hammer:

I hope you took steps to ensure that the bolts stay tight....like loctite or locking washers/nuts. Thats a job that you only want to do once. You'll love them though.

Also, how hard was it to drop the kmember?

i warned you about this.....Longtubes just arnt worth the bs and PAIN

i knew they'd be a pain.. just retelling the story to others to let them know that is in fact, a pain in the ass. You couldnt convince me to not run them, gotta love the sound. SHORTYS arent worth it.. its still a pain to get to the bolts, regardless of the type of header..

Yea i do love them, even being just open lol I used a combination of there bolts, and stock studs. The stock setup uses oval nuts and they hold on fairly well.. i tightened them the best i could.. didnt use any loctite or washers.. not enough room. I'll be getting a tubular K here eventually.. and i'll probably proceed to tighten them again at that point. I used factory studs/nuts on the spots that are extremely hard to get to.. and then i used the bolts supplied in the kit on the easily accessible spots. we'll see how it goes.. taking it to get the H pipe made tommorow

LT's are the biggest PITA ;D
Not something I'll do. I'll pay a shop to do it ;D

they are in fact a pita.. but to be honest, if you do LT's, and don't wimp out.. there won't be anything on your car that your afraid to do... basically I started out blind with this car, being a 5.0 guy of 5 years.. and then i got a 4.6, not knowing much about them. Now that i've gotten this deep, i'm not afraid of the car at all, much less screwing anything up.. if you pay anyone to do your stuff, you don't really have a hotrod.. you just happen to own one.. no different then buyin the car with it on it, nothing to be proud of in that

Your right. Big PITA. One of my studs on the passenger side broke off. Thank god it didnt break off inside the head. I bought a stud removal tool and it worked great. Which brand of headers did you go with since you have the Auto. I went with MAC's. I picked up 3 tenths in the 1/8th with a prochamber and dumps. So it was worth it and sounds damn good too.

flowtechs.. cheaper then most, yet still good quality. No complaints yet, but only had them on two days.. we'll see how it ends up as time rolls on.

thanks alot man, i hope they stay tight to.. i guess i'll come back at a good time to tighten them up again probably when i get into my heads at some point.. that or messin with the tranny like a stall or a 5 speed swap. The headers are tight in there though, and not alot of room to move.. pretty sure if they decide to loosen up, it wont go but only so far lol
