im looking to paint the two door panels, door handle bezles, a/c vents, and center console bezle with a gloss black and clear coating it. ive seen others do this, but im worried about my driver side door panel. after years and years of it being open, wear and tear has developed where anyone would put their hand to push open the door. i wouldnt like to paint over this. its a very thin, almost grippy type of material. if anyone has taken this layer off before, id like to know the best way of doing it without causeing damage. thanks

ive painted many many interior parts, as long as you clean them prep with rubbing alchohol and use good pain (i used engine enamal) by dupli color and worked pretty good, just remember use more coats, not thicker coats!!!

I imagine Krylon Fusion would also do the job... used it on my bumper recently with great results.

You might also want to consider vinyl dye, probably a little better and more "permanent" than paint.

If its plastic parts i would use krylon fusion thats what i used on my plastic parts when i did my interior to all black. On vinyl I would use dupli color dye.

Hi I have a few questions:
Are the door panels vinyl or plastic?
And If i got the Duplicolor black with the shiny top as opposed the the flat top would the panels i paint be too shiny?
Also how do you take off the plastic part where the radio and ac controls are? I want to paint it silver.

Thanks!

Brake fluid will peel off that grippy rubber-ish stuff on the door pulls and whatnot... just make sure you clean it all off THOROUGHLY before paint

*Extreme but extremely effective

I've done this quite a few times on some various cars, and from what i have found Prep is the most important. a nice wetsand on plastic parts, clean with some rubbing alchohol or isopropyl, a quick shot of adhesion promoter, two coats of paint, and then i usually use two coats of duplicolor wheel clear (supposed to be chip resistant) I've used this process on many cars, both my own and customer cars, and it seems to work out pretty well. I havent done much with vinyl thought.....

I know this is an older thread, but thought I'd share my experience with painting interior parts. The previous owner had painted several of the pieces white so I lightly went over each one with a scotch brite pad to just give a better surface for the paint to adhere to. I next wiped it down very well with alchohol to make sure no oils or dirt were on the pieces. I then followed this up wilth multiple light coats of a flat black engine enamel paint. Used a total of about 7 coats that were all very light. Parts look new and couldn't be any happier with the end result.
