Is there supposed to be a cover on the lower bell housing opening?

Been a while since I've been under a Mustang.

Isn't there supposed to be a cover on the bell housing?

That doesn't seem to match the shape of the lower cutout of the existing separator plate on mine though. I'll have to crawl under there and get some better pictures. Wish I had a lift.

Looks like the inspection cover has been missing for a long time. Might find one in a salvage yard. Check 90's F-150's with aode or maybe 4r70w. Possible older v-8 vans, or t-birds, cougars, etc.

Anyone know the correct size bolts to use to hold it in place? Google search makes me think 8mm?

Those look to be the correct shape. The link I posted was for the modular stuff. I am not sure on the bolt size. I think the modular stuff uses m10x1.5 bolts.

That looks like the correct cover, I would make one before paying out that kind of money. I believe 8mm is the correct bolt size, about 3/4" in length.

If you can wait a day or 2, I will pull mine off and post the cover size and bolt info.

That would be great - it's low on my punch list. Right now I'm fixing the shifter bezel. Busted mine getting it out. Discovered OD switch is dead. Ordered a new unit off of ebay. Waiting for it to arrive to get car mobile again. Will probably grind off heat stake rivet heads from bezel assembly to fix the shifter slot cover and the orange gear shift indicator tab.

After that it's time to pull the door locks and replace them with new units after transferring the tumblers from the old locks to the new.

While doing that, I'll fix the peeling trim on the passenger door panel and the broken heat staked posts like I did on the driver door.

I placed the cover on a 1" 'grid' board, unfortunately didn't orient it properly, but think you get the idea of the size. Mic's at 042, very light weight, so it must be aluminum.
We were both wrong on the bolt size. Actual is m10-1.5x40mm o/l, flanged hex head.

I ordered on off of ebay, and they gave it to me for free if I confirm it works on 94/95.

I also ordered one with hardware from a guy on another mustang forum.
